Its not MS thats publicising.....its the BUNGIE staff....fyi..... What I meant to say is, the way they are publicizing it, they come across as too desperate to sell their game....its already a well known game, would've sold on its own anyway, so why the publicity ? unless MS/Bungie are sort of unsure of the quality of the third installment ! North America: September 25 Australia: September 25 Europe: September 26 Japan: September 27 What are the chances Halo 3's ship date will be broken? Not likely. To ensure that retailers can host midnight events, Halo 3 will probably ship to stores the week prior to its release. But don't expect anyone to have the guts to break this one early. There's little 2K could do to retailers that sold BioShock early. But Microsoft is a different beast and can ensure that any company that takes the initiative to sell Halo 3 early will feel the sting. Could it happen? Certainly, it could happen. But we wouldn't bet on it. Can we expect a lot of stores to have special midnight launch parties? Yes. As with Halo 2, most videogame specialty shops (GameStop, etc.) will begin selling Halo 3 on September 25 at 12:01 AM. Expect at least one (and possibly more) Microsoft-sponsored launch event in the U.S. Though Microsoft has not announced its plans yet, the best bets for official launch sites would be the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square and the GameStop at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles. Starting in early September, expect to see several announcements from major retailers (including chains such as Target and TRU) revealing their launch plans. Any major metropolis (and most every other city) will have multiple stores hosting the midnight release of Halo 3. What is the difference between the Standard, Collector's, and Legendary Editions? Standard Edition: $59.99 (USD) - Comes with the game and, of course, the manual. Collector's Edition: $69.99 (USD) - Along with the game it includes a bonus DVD and a "Beastiarum." The bonus DVD includes a "Making of Halo 3" documentary and numerous featurettes on the design process. Legendary Edition: $129.99 (USD) - Includes everything from the Collector's Edition plus the "Legendary DVD" and Master Chief Helmet Replica which can fit on your cat's head. The Legendary DVD comes with an expanded Bestiarum, remastered cinematics from Halo and Halo 2, and storyboard art. If I don't pre-order Halo 3 am I going to be screwed on the 25th? That depends on which edition you want. Microsoft recently announced that more than one million pre-orders had been tallied for Halo 3. However, there should be no shortage of the Standard Edition. The CE should also be in abundance. The pricey Legendary Edition, however, may be more problematic if you don't pre-order. In visiting several local game stores, we discovered that the Standard and Legendary Editions were being pre-ordered at a near 1:1 ratio, while the CE was well behind. If you want Halo 3 at midnight, you should pre-order it. If you're going to buy any of the editions, then just put some money down on it right now to ensure you have no troubles for the midnight release. Stores sell the pre-ordered copies first, so save yourself some time waiting in line by putting $10 down in advance. If you don't pre-order, don't sweat it too much. Microsoft will be making certain that its most important game of the past three years will be available to anyone with $60 and a will to Finish the Fight. How many players does Halo 3 support? Halo 3 supports up to four players online, offline, or over System Link for campaign co-op. Up to sixteen players can go at it via System Link or Xbox Live for multiplayer. Prior to the release of Halo in 2001, even the best console first-person shooters were far below the standards of what was seen on PC. Halo was the first console FPS that could rival a PC title. Several Bungie and Microsoft employees could be seen playing Pimps at Sea on Xbox Live a few months prior to the launch of the Halo 3 multiplayer beta. What's so special about the Halo 3 Zune? The Halo 3 Zune, priced at $249 (USD), gives you all the goodness of a wireless Zune with some built-in extras. The special edition casing is black with a UNSC skin, as if it were the official portable music device of the marines in the Halo universe. The Zune comes loaded with the soundtracks for Halo and Halo 2, along with more than 100 pieces of Halo 3 artwork. Do any of the Halo novels give hints on what to expect in Halo 3? The novels expand our understanding of the Halo universe, but don't necessarily give any answers to the major questions we have heading into Halo 3. However, "The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor" a story within the Halo Graphic Novel, gives us more details on how the Flood function. Bungie has said that we will likely see a Flood more resembling those in "Succor" in Halo 3. Halo: The Fall of Reach - Explains the origins of the Spartan II super soldiers, including the early history of Master Chief. Halo: The Flood - Retells the events of the first Halo game. Halo: First Strike - Bridges the gap between Halo and Halo 2. Halo: Ghosts of Onyx - Tells of a plan to mass-produce a new series of Spartan III soldiers and how this all goes terribly awry on the planet Onyx. Halo: Contact Harvest - Coming in October 2007, Contact Harvest is set 27 years prior to the events of the first Halo game and details mankind's first encounter with the Covenant. Halo Graphic Novel - A series of short stories that offer some insight into the Halo universe. "The Last Voyage of the Infinite Succor" shows that the flood actually gain the knowledge and skills of the person they infect. Halo: Uprising - The first four-issue comic-book miniseries set in the Halo Universe explains the events that occur between the end of Halo 2 and the start of Halo 3. Is Halo 3 coming to PC? Nothing has been announced, but considering the first two Halo titles appeared on PC, it's likely Halo 3 will arrive someday. That might be 2009, but certainly Halo 3 seems destined for PC.
