As a new souls bro Apart from understanding the souls die penalty system. There is nothing much. You simply learn as you go. One thing though, master parry, the entire game from start to finish depends on parry and through that or other means, breaking enemy guard. You do that and you will flow through everything. If you play it like souls, you will die a lot. But since it's your first souls game, that's not a worry for you. There are bosses later in the game which are almost impossible to beat without parry.
