This game’s focus isn’t really what they portrayed all along.

One can’t “fly” into planets….just “load” into them.

It’s basically Fallout in outer space instead of wasteland.

Bad & unfaithful representation but it is what it is.

Why the hell would you want to fly into a planet ? Thank god its not there ,its not necessary and after a couple of times just cumbersome and annoying.

No man’s sky has this. It’s just a loading screen but gives you a feeling of interstellar travel.

Even Jedi Survivor/Fallen order has it.

I guess there was some expectation along these lines.

No didn't go that much. I could play only for 2.2 hrs in morning just to blaze through initially and check the game.

Back from office so will start a brand new character with proper everything now. Will let you know tomorrow. This game is heavy on RPG... and different build exist. Gamespot review was a$$ by saying it's not heavy on RPG side.

That's good to know.

GameSpot was quite clear in their review it's a shallow game and doesn't have rpg elements.

I hope it's not a Prey (2017) type of situation. I stumbled upon that game by mistake. Already have very little faith in reviewers after that. Will just stop watching them if they are caught lying.

At least IGN wasn't very clear cut with it's criticism as to why they didn't liked it as much.

Once you fly to the planet, you can land anywhere. Where exactly will game designers put a quest and points of interest?

It's a challenge they cannot go beyond.

Jedi Survivor has way smaller scope. All of it is hand crafted.

No Man's Sky is fully procedurally generated.

I don't think Bethesda can really do that. Besides their games are always segmented because of number of variables.

Ok that ways ,i though people want option to manually control the landing and take off.

Designers can always figure something out to pull players naturally in a particular direction. Its what they're good at, especially a studio that does open world games. The limitation is a technical one, not a design one. The engine can't handle it.

I don't have any knowledge of Bethesda engine, so can't say anything about it.

One thing I will say is, Skyrim was very good at pacing. You are never walking for too long while exploring to reach next landmark.

I am assuming this is the reason they decided to have you choose a landing point, then populate everything around you. This will of course involve a loading screen.

Am not entirely sure what's the point of entering seamlessly in a planets atmosphere. Then fly for 10 mins to point of interest.

Infinite warfare did this as well in a more limited scope.

There's a reason "Don't believe his lies" is a Todd Howard meme

Posting for reference..

This one seems no where close to the FO76 debacle & those sort of scams.

It’s genuinely well finished product with the usual design & engine problems.

Only reason it isn’t “mustplay GOTY like FO3 & Skyrim is coz it’s got nothing new to it just like FO4.

It’s great game overall & that reflects in the response it’s getting.

Interesting that you think it's nothing new.

Has been done a 100 times before?

I would like to see your favourite studios take a shot at game like this.
