Watch Dogs Legion

Watch_Dogs lighting was awesome along with weather effect. Driving around was so calming.

But with 2 and Legion, they moved away from serious type to more hip type. World is filled with distractions. The day time absolutely sucks. So washed out.

Gamespot: 8/10

Watch Dogs: Legion is an anti-fascist game, and it's admirable that it sticks to that message and sees it through to a satisfying and affirming conclusion. It also bolsters the franchise's clever hacking gameplay to offer more creativity than ever. One of Legion's more profound messages is about what it means to be a true Londoner, and by the game's end, you'll have a DedSec crew made of wildly diverse and disparate citizens from unique cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds--all united in their goal to restore their home. If anything, that's as powerful a message for the game as you can get.

The Good

  • Powerful anti-fascist and hopeful message about unity and perseverance in the face of adversity
  • Fantastic hacking and recruitment gameplay that rewards flexibility and curiosity
  • Fun operatives that offer some needed comic relief, but also make for interesting playable characters in the ope world
  • Well-realized London that shows off a diverse culture and art scene

The Bad

  • Overall game structure can be somewhat inconsistent, which doesn't do enough to highlight its main story and the sense of urgency
  • Repetitive missions and characters that often have you revisit locations and objectives on a repeated basis

Yep. F

  • Compared to the first two entries, Legion is a massive step backward, both in terms of story and execution. This is paint-by-numbers Ubisoft on autopilot.
  • There’s some fun to be had in Watch Dogs Legion, but it becomes so repetitive that by the end of the game everything feels like a chore — one I was desperately wanting to be over hours before its credits rolled.
  • The gameplay is too repetitive and too restrictive to allow for anything tremendously exciting over a long period of time. It's a game that shows all of its tricks within the first few hours and leaves you with nothing but jank for the remainder of your playthrough.
  • The hacking and stealth infiltrations haven't changed a bit, and with repetitive mission design and numerous technical issues, this latest chapter finds DedSec in an identity crisis.

Typical Ubilol copy-paste repetitiveness. ?

I think games which average around 70s have polarizing reviews. It comes down to the personal preferences so someone might like it like a 85 rated game and someone else might feel it is a 50 or below rated game. I like open worlds so I will give it a fair try.

Any idea when does the standard edition unlocks in India? Is it 12 midnight or 12 as per US time?

Midnight launch. Players from Europe, Asia, Japan, and Korea can expect the game at 12:01 AM in their local time.

Some Q&A answered

Is the character variety enough or does the game become stale after a few hours? Did it feel as if one character was better than everyone else, giving you no reason to play the others?

Quote

Unfortunately, yeah. Construction workers are by far the best because they can summon Cargo Drones at will, which get you anywhere you like pretty much. Spies and professional hitmen are also great — the former for their silenced pistol, the latter for their weapon arsenal — but I found myself just switching between the three for the majority of the game.

Do the characters themselves have any kind of meaningful progression?

Quote

Not really, each character has their own skills and perks, but they can't be upgraded or anything. You just have your tech points, which you can invest into hacks and upgrades for every character. Stuff like the ability to hack Riot Drones, being able to sprint and double jump with the Spider-Bot gadget, for example. Characters from your team can be kidnapped when you're not using them though, so you have to do a revenge mission to get them back.

How is the vehicle driving physics like?

Quote

Pretty average, cars are weighty but it is hard to drive down some London side streets when you're speeding past other vehicles. Expect to murder a lot of people if you don't drive like a civilian, I'm pretty sure my kill count from running over pedestrians is higher in this than it was playing GTA 5.

How varied are the recruitment missions? If I'm trying to recruit a fair few people to Dedsec am I likely to come over the same missions again and again?

Quote

They're pretty varied, I haven't had a duplicate so far and I've done maybe six or seven. But the best recruits are the ones you get for clearing boroughs of the map and making them defiant, so don't entail a recruitment mission.

How's the performance on PC? Any graphics settings that really tank your fps?

Quote

I was playing on a 1070Ti (3080 order still hasn't arrived after more than a month lol) and my frames mainly tanked when going near the River Thames. I was recording with OBS and playing on High throughout and managing to maintain 60+ everywhere except by the river.

Is there enough content to warrant a 60-80 USD purchase? Or would you say wait for a 30% + sale?

Quote

I'd probably wait for a sale. I had a lot of fun with it, but I think the fact I'm familiar with London helped a lot. At times, I didn't even have to use the in-game map to get around, which I can imagine is what New Yorkers feel when playing something like Spider-Man. But the game has a lot of bugs and glitches right now and it doesn't do anything particularly new to spice up the formula. Recruiting new allies is cool, but it's a very surface-level addition.

Only you can decide what to do with your money, Watch Dogs Legion is a very fun game with rough edges that you can easily sink 50+ hours into if you've liked previous games in the series. If you didn't like WD1/2, give this a miss.

now I’m in two minds whether to go through WD2 in my backlog

Or just let the series be

I didn’t like WD1 too much

WD2 is step up from WD1 in lots of ways but overall still an average game. Not something must play or anything. It is fun to mess around and co-op is nice too.

Am expecting similar experience here.

Day time looks really rough. Not a fan of it. Driving also sucks and I just put it on auto-drive (which is quite slow but at least I don't have to drive).

Okay start so far. Hacking and stuff works same as previous games. AI is dumb as usual.

I had 3 crashes today on PC. One happened when I was doing nothing, game was paused and i was checking my phone. Also, soon after crash this happened which is only possible in a boobiesoft game where their anticheat algorithm in the launcher blocks the files essential for game to load :suicide:

For what its worth, my PC has decent specs: 2080Ti, 32 GB RAM, 970 Evo Plus nvme SSD and Ryzen 3700X
