For some reason I had forgotten about MW2 campaign, but after watching this launch trailer I remember how crazy good it was.

 

 

Five hours of nonstop insanity. This was peak Infinity Ward before everything went to sh*t.

Just noticed that the PS3 version has only 7GB with all features and the PS4 version has 48GB just for the campaign! Wonders of 4K!

A lot of last-gen games were hamstrung by DVD drive in X360 and lack of HDD for install. 7GB was the absolute upper cap because of this. Also the MP will not increase it by much since most reuse levels from campaign. Maybe 60GB with spec-ops.

Yes but it didn’t answer my question for the huge difference in file size for the PS4 version. Only models and environments are upscaled in the campaign and that’s it. Not a remake either. 
 

Many games with similar game length and current gen engines take roughly 20-30GB.

Its not just upscaled. Its new engine with new lighting model, most old textures are replaced by higher res textures. All main characters have new models, Price looks goofy af in the prison rescue mission like in the new MW game. There's also some new added dialog, like at the end of No Russian mission. This is no different than MW1 remaster which was also something like 70+ GB.

Agree with the added graphical fidelity. Just saying that some game engines ignores consideration for file sizes. It is proven that 4K requires huge storage space. A much needed move in the next gen to separate campaign and Mp installations. 
 

Seems that this remastered is available only digitally now for obvious reasons.
