This is for the TV experts:

I am looking to buy an HD TV, 40-42". My budget is ~ 70K. Now, H3lios suggested that I should look at Samsnug series 6, btu the 40" model turned out to be 97K. Now, I also looked at three others:

Samsung series 5, 40" ~ 65K

LG 42" ~ 65K (don't remember the model)

LG Scarlet 42" ~ 75K

my main purpose is gaming (and sometimes movies). So, which one would you suggest and why?

IMO, 40" TV is an overkill, unless you have a room quite big, where you can watch it from a safe distance. Its better to invest in a sony bravia 32" and spend the remaining moolah on a decent HT/surround sound system. That way, you can enjoy both movies and video games in full glory.

Hi,

I don't think its worth buying a 70k TV tv to play , anyways if you have the money i suggest you go with a samsung , their picture quality and responce time is really great.

Benq , Dell and sasung have now released full hd 22inch monitors which arereally good and compitatively priced.

Regards,

Rohan

Oh yeah, good advice. If you plan on sitting about 6-8 feet away I would say get a 32 incher and spend the 25 k that you save on a killer audio system. Win-win situation.

Safe Distance .... never worked for me. I am a guy with a 6/9 vision, not a perfect 9/9. I need to sit within 6 feet of my 21" to see things properly. :)

help needed

i have a xbox 360 and play it at a resolution of 720 p

i wanted to play on 1080 p but wanted to know that wether playing at such a high resolution will slow down the the game processing

thanks

This isnt PC gaming whereby your resolution affects frame rate. It doesnt matter what resolution you set the output as. End of the day if the game doesnt support 1080 it wont matter.

thanks but can some one plz also explain me the diffrence between 720 p and 720 i

thanks

Hi,

FIRST its 1080i and is related with LCD monitors,

If your monitor is rated 1080i that is means that even if you give a input of 1080p it will be able to downscale it to 720p and video works just fine,

IF the monitor is 720 p and you give a 1080p input it will shutdown or will not play the video.

This is the part where the console gaming rocks no matter how demanding the game is ( released for XBOX360 or PS3) you can run it at full hd 1080p and withount andy loss in picture quality or frame rate

Finally located the right thread for the query (I hope). :jumpy:

Guys, how do you ventilate your AV cabinet ?

I've a cabinet which has a receiver, dvd player, STB & PS3. Whenever use the PS3 specially the entire cabinet heats up in some time. I was thinking of putting a 120mm fan system with thermostat, any suggestions on where I can get one with the thermostat ?

Keep the PS3 out in open if you can..

If i keep it out in the open it will die on me of dust in less than a month. Even when its inside the cabinet it attracts so much dust.

very interesting mine is out in open from last 2 years just keep it clean...
