If his receiver can't do HDMI audio, he still has to use the optical out for 5.1 sound.

Yeah thats the problem. I have a separate HT system and digital/coaxial input is the only way to receive 5.1 channel audio.

Anyway thanks for all the info. Ill check out the video and if it doesn't work will have to buy the cable.

Which cable should I buy to display the contents of my notebook on TV, would prefer the cable with SDTV output coz have only one HDTV in the house.

Any link for buying the cable from India will also be helpful :)

What model notebook?

depends on what your tv and notebook support... e.g. My notebook has a S-Video output and TV has S-video input so i got a S-video to S-video cable...

Choy- there is a note on that link which says,

Note: This cable will not work for connecting Computers' VGA outputs to Any display with component Video inputs, neither Any Component Video sources to Computer LCD displays.

Thanks for the cable specification, but wont be able to buy it from UK leaving on 27th night, is such type of cable readily available in India?

Should be available on Lamington Road.

These things are of questionable quality so make sure the shopkeeper is okay with you returning the cable if it doesn't work.

Created a new topic without any response, maybe i should have posted here.. Here's my question.

I currently have a 2 and a half year old Samsung 32 inch LCD TV.. Planning to upgrade to something bigger and better.. Hows the Samsung 46 inch LED? How would you compare Sony Bravia LCD vs Samsung LED?

Want to setup a good gaming unit which will also be used for watching movies.
