Bulovski
It's not an IP issue since the Xbox can connect to the internet - it's not being able to connect to XBL because it says MTU is lower than 1300-somthing. I checked and MTU is definitely higher. Too much higher MTU and my other pages might time out.

Last time I called them with a connectivity issue they told me to format my hd and reinstall Vista
Aftrunner
PC Defense Force Assemble! If achillef actually makes a sensible argument for his white box of Steve Jobs' joy i'd be shocked. Along with everyone else.  I am guessing it would be along the lines of -  "dude mac dont get viruses and they dont crash every 10 seconds lol"  Its like time froze for them when Windows 98 came out. Hell I would go for Redhat/Ubuntu before I go Mac, at least that way I have more options.
achilles
Advising someone to buy a Mac for 60k+ makes absolutely no sense when you can get a better config PC that does so much more for so much less. Can you honestly tell me one good reason why he should go for a Mac? One good reason why its worth more money? Something less vague than "its so much better"? Â Â Well i'd get one for the sake of convenience (no formatting, no maintainance issues etc). Plus the customer support is pretty bad a*s. Â tha ninja gave 1 reason (2 actually) already especially since the fact that Warp mentioned he was looking for a computer for the 'usual' stuff and nothing special. his number one requirement was a big screen for which iv already said that the iMac would not be suitable. Â it's like u did not read my post at all. a better config is utter useless coz he'll be burning more watts for doing the same stuff which he can with a lesser config on a mac. the hardware is not the only price for the mac. Â still.. ill list out the reasons i feel mac os is better : Â 1. iLife : media suite of apps which work very well together 2. doing the same things is simpler, easier and more um.. thoughtful. it's like if you think something should work this one way, it usually does. like drag and drop, spring loaded folders, app libraries. 3. it is more secure. 4. more & much better consumer level software. eg. skitch, click2flash etc. 5. no driver hassles 6. works with almost all consumer equipments like a digi cam without driver hassles 7. the customer service really is very good. 8. unibody. 9. multitouch trackpad 10. adherence to open standards like webkit, HTML, mpeg. Â and.. since i really can't be all sensible about this.. Â does not need a 50,000 ghz, 70 million core proc and 79million gigs of ram to just boot up. achilles
No but you can build a decent rig that will do everything for around 40K . Â are u trying to justify ur delay..??
Aftrunner
tha ninja gave 1 reason (2 actually) already especially since the fact that Warp mentioned he was looking for a computer for the 'usual' stuff and nothing special. his number one requirement was a big screen for which iv already said that the iMac would not be suitable.  Yet you recommended it anyway.  it's like u did not read my post at all. a better config is utter useless coz he'll be burning more watts for doing the same stuff which he can with a lesser config on a mac. the hardware is not the only price for the mac.  A better config is useless but spending more for an Imac with a lesser config is better because it will do the same stuff (minus gaming of course)? How much of a boost will that Imac give you when you open Firefox?  still.. ill list out the reasons i feel mac os is better :  1. iLife : media suite of apps which work very well together 2. doing the same things is simpler, easier and more um.. thoughtful. it's like if you think something should work this one way, it usually does. like drag and drop, spring loaded folders, app libraries. 3. it is more secure. 4. more & much better consumer level software. eg. skitch, click2flash etc. 5. no driver hassles 6. works with almost all consumer equipments like a digi cam without driver hassles 7. the customer service really is very good. 8. unibody. 9. multitouch trackpad 10. adherence to open standards like webkit, HTML, mpeg.    Ok lets see  1 Listed a specific app with no specific purpose. 2 The old vague "its just easier on a Mac" TV ad spouting. 3 I will argue that Windows 7/Vista with a free AV is just as good if not better. Purely on a personal level I have used Vista now for 2 years without any AV and dont have any complaints. 4 So now we are getting down to any software you can list? Pretty much any app that you liked? Do you even know if there are any counterparts to them on the PC? 5 I can run all my external devices on Vista without installing drivers as well. If drivers improve that functionality then I am all for them. 6 "Almost all" aint good enough. Every hardware in the market is windows compatible. 7 As long as you are covered by warranty, sure. I will give you that. 8 Seriously? You gonna list that as a reason? 9 Umm LOL? I dont recall talking about portables. Need any more straws? Just FYI Asus and Dell are already doing it. 10 Again nothing a PC cant do.  Which is the whole point of the list and the argument. There isnt ANYTHING here that a PC wont do. Cheaper, faster and better.  does not need a 50,000 ghz, 70 million core proc and 79million gigs of ram to just boot up.  That just makes me feel stupid for trying to have a reasonable discussion with you and typing this whole post. If I had known you were an idiot I wouldnt have bothered. Edited December 15, 2009 by Aftrunner
Solitaire
No i'm just playing devil's advocate. Â Like this guy: Â Â or this one: Â Â ? Â Btw, I'm with the PC side of the argument here. I wouldn't go for a mac when I can get a better config for the same price in a PC. My money's worth is more important than a style statement and having a few media apps run better but with a lesser config. Superfrag
Regarding the Mac vs PC fight, with regard to a desktop obv. PC is a better choice. But when it comes to laptops, If you dont intend to game on your laptop often, Mac and Windows are on equal footing. The really good part about Macbook's are their insanely long battery life, easily lasting 5-6 hours on normal work. Â Guys, one more thing, you need to use the Mac OSX for sometime before commenting on it. Ive seen many ppl say Windows is better than Mac simply because its cheaper, but when so many of us pirate Windows and dont buy the original license which btw, costs 6k-11k for a decently loaded OS.. the costs go down. Â Also, ppl in general prefer Windows because they are USED to it, and they simply dont find Mac appealing. However, when you actually sit and use both the OS's for a long duration, you'll realise that OSX is good in its own way, while Windows is also good in its own way. Â Also, I have no idea why,but the Mac version of Office is more updated ( 08 vs 07 ) and has slightly more features ( Entourage ). But I expect the next iteration of Office to fix everything. Â Oh, and I almost forgot. One HUGE disadvantage of OSX, is the limited ( VERY ) hardware it supports. Whoever has tried Hackint0shing will know what I'm talking about. Its a freaking PITA to find the right kexts for your hardware. Â And one more thing, AFAIK all iMac panels are IPS Panels or variations of IPS such as H-IPS and S-IPS, thats why they have uses in the pro segment ( for graphics development, animation ) and their music reproduction and calibration software cannot be bested by any Windows software, thats why you might see Mac's being used at audio related work. Â And for those who dont know, 24" IPS panels are very expensive, easily above 20k, and higher the size even huger the hole it burns in your wallet. Another reason why iMac's are more expensive than PC's. Edited December 15, 2009 by Superfrag
killroy
I find windows best for games and other usual sh*t. Â But something about Mac makes it the best platform to work on if you are doing anything related to 3d Modelling/Art/Animation. Its as if they tailor made it. Superfrag
Hehe, yeah. Main factor are their panels, like I mentioned. The brilliant colour reproduction helps a lot.
achilles
u r like a stuck record blabbering the same crap over and over again. u fail to get my point. disregard all my arguments just like a fool who is too narrow minded to listen to any1 else about anything he's made his mind up about. ur going up on your word and now all your yakking can be summed up in one sentence "PCs are better because they are"  sometimes thick brains need a little bit of drilling.  get yours done and then maybe you'll be able to understand what everyone who has actually used a mac is talking about.  Yet you recommended it anyway. coz then i din't know he was looking for a big screen as his main requirement. a 21 inch iMac woulda fit his budget nicely.  A better config is useless but spending more for an Imac with a lesser config is better because it will do the same stuff (minus gaming of course)? How much of a boost will that Imac give you when you open Firefox?  c what i mean by narrow minded. u completely missed the point. u were the one who said that for the same price you can get much better hardware for your PC. my point was that for the mac to run as smooth or even more, you do not need that config. gaming was never a part of the argument coz warp clearly mentioned he would not play games on his PC.  Ok lets see  1 Listed a specific app with no specific purpose.  thass a pretty popular app suite. still if ur truly have to be an a*s, i recommend apple.com/ilife or wiki.  2 The old vague "its just easier on a Mac" TV ad spouting.  u really went dense on this one. i cited specific examples of what makes the work easier for me. 3 I will argue that Windows 7/Vista with a free AV is just as good if not better. Purely on a personal level I have used Vista now for 2 years without any AV and dont have any complaints.  4 So now we are getting down to any software you can list? Pretty much any app that you liked? Do you even know if there are any counterparts to them on the PC?  lol. only a thickskull would actually respond like that. these apps are universally appreciatted, have won awards and are available only for the mac. like i said, consumer level software is better on the mac.  5 I can run all my external devices on Vista without installing drivers as well. If drivers improve that functionality then I am all for them.  6 "Almost all" aint good enough. Every hardware in the market is windows compatible.  almost all coz there are some clueless companies who do not wish to port compatibility over to the mac. like the Zune. and i meant compatible w/o the need of specific drivers. iLife takes care of most. 7 As long as you are covered by warranty, sure. I will give you that.  8 Seriously? You gonna list that as a reason?  yea, if you've actually seen and held a unibody macbook in person ull know how awesome it is. 9 Umm LOL? I dont recall talking about portables. Need any more straws? Just FYI Asus and Dell are already doing it.  yea, like LG, samsung and Nokia are doing touchscreen phones now.  10 Again nothing a PC cant do.  adhering to standards.. please. the default media player is called windows media player which brought with it a whole new format. IE is anything but standard.  i never said a mac can do stuff a PC can't do. a PC still has some apps which are not available for the mac which are used in the business environment. mainstream games aren't there for the mac.   Which is the whole point of the list and the argument. There isnt ANYTHING here that a PC wont do. Cheaper, faster and better.  again that same rant.  That just makes me feel stupid for trying to have a reasonable discussion with you and typing this whole post. If I had known you were an idiot I wouldnt have bothered.

Warp 10!
Hello, all.  Hope everyone is doing well. Massive change of plans this side.  Dell upgraded its inspiron 545 to 560 & somehow the new configuration has less cutomisation options and does not meke ant sense to me.  So, checked out HP. Decent systems & price but trouble is they r offering 4gb ram + 1 gb video card with only a 32 bit windows 7. No option of 64 bit, & this does not make any sense to me.  So gonna go for an assembled system . Visited Nehru Place today. Here is the configuration & prices. Please give suggestions & help me make final choice.  computer empire cost to cost   CPU Core i5 + intel DP 55wb MOBO Rs 16,300 (default) Rs 16,500 (default)   Core 2 quad Rs Rs 7890  + mobo Rs 8490    RAM 2 x 2 gb DDRIII Rs 2550 x 2 Rs 2590 x 2  Hard Disk 500 gb Rs 2400 (seagate) default Rs 2490  1 Tb Rs 4290 Rs 3590(samsung)   24 " full HD monitor Dell Rs 12800 BenQ (TFT + TV tuner included) Rs 14290 LG Rs 11400 BenQ Rs 11400 (default)  Speakers 2.1 Creative SBS A300 Rs 1250 ( need these for some other purpose) Creative SBS A300 Rs 1250 default Altec Lansing VS4121 Rs 2890  5.1 Creative M5300 Rs 3050 Creative T6100 Rs 3490 T6100 Rs 3500 (default)  Optical Drive DVD SATA Rs1090 HP/LG Rs 1150   Wireless keyboard & mouse Logitech Rs 1150 Microsoft cordless 700 Rs 1240  PSU 550 watt - Rs 5750 500 watt Cooler master Rs 2990 default 600 watt - Rs3500 ( cooler master) default 650 watt Rs 4250 450 watt - Rs 4200 Solus 650VA Rs 1150  Cabinet Rs 1700 (i think) Cooler master elite 310 Rs 1950   Graphics ATI 4850 Rs 9400 260 GTX Rs 11000 default 4870 Rs 11700 250 GTS Rs 8700 4890 Rs 13500 GTX 275 Rs 14200 260 GT Rs 11100 (default) Sapphire ATI radeon 1 gb 5770 GDDR5 - Rs 10650    Windows 7 home premium Rs 5750     Total Rs 62,440 Rs 61,530 (No OS)      5.1 Creative sound card Rs 980 Fan Rs 450 TV tuner card external Rs 1.2 k internal Rs 400  HP F4488 all-in-one deskjet Rs 3690/Rs3650   1) Do i really need sound card, tv tuner card, Fan?
