Guys,

I just got my hands on Garmin etrex 20 GPS system and i am not very used to it...infact this is second time i have ever actually had it in my hands ...

I have started playing with it...like finding my coordinates....mapping coordinates but that is not all to it right?

so anyone here whose using any such GPS ...can you guide me how can i get them maps and all ? other interesting things i can use it for...

Send it back where it came from and get a smart phone with gps :P

mostly all smartphones these days come with one.they all come with the features these standalone gps devices do.

I had mapmyindia, used it for some time then sold it

It has virtually no use unless you are driving around , locating some place of interest etc.Unfortunately these were all supported by my phone

However if you travel a lot these things are very handy

Yes, like Danny said. Use GPS. Did you know you only need 3G ONCE so it can download the map and set the route, and once your route is SET, you can actually turn off 3G and just keep GPS on and you'll reach your destination without any problem :)

If you keep 3G on, as and when you progress on your route, it will use 3G to download nearby locations, hotels, etc., so 3G is actually not needed to reach your destination :)

Is there a restriction on the number of electronic gadgets you can bring to India from the US (for Customs purposes) or is anything fine as long as it's not a new/sealed thing? I need to buy a laptop for my sister and bring it with me, and I'll already be carrying a laptop of mine.

Hi Experts,

Do you recommend projectors for gaming? If yes, any suggested model?(googled on this, but still wanted to check your inputs from personal experience)

Is that 50k limit for new/sealed things, or for everything I literally carry (like clothes, books, joota, chappal, etc.)?

Check out the two links

Here are some of the main points for a returning resident who has been away from India for more than three days:

Unlimited amount of "used personal effects required for satisfying the necessities of life" (basically clothing, toiletries etc, but not eg. electronics)

Up to Rs. 50,000 duty-free per person

Additional limits for tobacco, alcohol, gold, silver

One laptop in addition is allowed

Up to US$5000 (or equivalent) in cash

All limits are per person and cannot be pooled (eg. two people can't bring back a Rs. 1,00,000 item for free). If you're a "professional" returning to India after at least three months working abroad, you get extra allowances for household goods and professional equipment.

These are some really greedy f**kers at customs So if your items exceed the said value just declare them, unless you personally know these guys

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine is interested in getting into DSLRs, and his cousin is also in Dubai right now, so he was thinking of getting a DSLR from Dubai at a good price.

He's a COMPLETE NOOB and still has a lot to learn when it comes to DSLRs. Which camera, lens, etc., would you guys suggest he buy?

Also, any sites and forums he can check out for gaining more knowledge about DSLRs?

Thanx a lot in advance for the help guys. Really appreciate it :)

I am looking for ultraportable laptop around 30-35k. If nothing good in the above price range than a good android tablets at least 8 inches screen size. Won't mind importing but I don't know the new KYC norms, had actually started the thread regarding the purchase of new Nvidia shield.

Thanks in advance.
