rana
for 50k you'll get a very good digital SLR camera. go for a nikon or canon d-slr (cameras that come with their company lenses). read up on the cameras at dpreview.com and most importantly go to a shop and play around with them. Jumbo and Ezone both have decent camera collections. But the flip side is that if you've never used a SLR be prepared for a steep learning curve. These require a good knowledge of photography and post processing to get the perfect picture. Especially if you are graduating from A560 (which is a point and shoot). If you are looking for something in between for vacation pics and videos try a canon s5 or sony h7 / h9 (I thought the h9 was overrated). Both give awesome pics, can go from fully automatic to fully manual, has all the fancy features like multi-face recognition, high optical zoom, image stabilizer, etc. Both can shoot video. The canon s5 scores over the sony because the video shooting is better. Both these are around 25k (or was late last year). One of the best in this range of cameras is panasonic lumix f7? (i forget the model), but I couldn't find it when i bought mine. I really suggest spend a week trawling through dpreview.com to figure out what you might like. Oh and megapixel doesn't matter so much. It's the hand and eye ohhk. thx buddy. what about the HD cam's? Bulovski
ohhk. thx buddy. what about the HD cam's? i think sony h7 / h9 is HD. but you'll require HD for videocams. i really don't think you require HD for still cams. the pic quality is very good even at the largest size. like i said, if you want best pic quality go for a DSLR - a really good one gives professional level pics. but that can be $$$$$. try out bestbuy - they have a nice camera section where you can browse for lots of options. once you've made your pic then you can start checking out prices in India. also, try and keep an eye on indiaplaza - i got my s5 at a 30% discount, making it cheaper than US prices! Aftrunner
So I seem to have a copy of Watchmen on sale on Indiaplaza.in at a price that I can live with. Bulovski
^^ been an indiaplaza customer for some time and have bought quite a lot of stuff from them. all well delivered, including a camera. the only time they've screwed up is shipping mass effect revelations - they haven't done it yet after a few weeks (out of stock after saying in stock). what price are they quoting? They (Indiaplaza) are offering it for Rs. 833.58 + 25 shipping, which I feel is not a total rip off. But it says limited stock and ships in 14 days so I am worried about being stuck in your Mass effect situation.

Aftrunner
I feel so f**king stupid now. I searched high and low for Watchmen and it was right in my own backyard. There is this little bookshop I have used for years (literally) in South Ex because its the only one in Delhi (that I know of) that has a half decent fantasy/Sci fi collection. And guess what? Not only they had Watchmen for a fantastic price, they have a very respectable collection of Graphic novels. It was a side section of the shop I never ventured into because I only went in directly to the Fantasy section and walked out. For f**cking years!! So I paid about 590 Rs for a brand spanking new copy of the novel (Rs 728 MRP - 20% usual discount). I actually paid over a 1500 Rs years ago for the same, somehow I managed to loose that copy while shifting houses some weeks ago. Thanks for your input anyway guys. Aftrunner
Midland book shop South Ex. Mind you the South ex market would be closed on Monday or tuesday. Cant remember which day. Also if you do buy something from them look for the 20% discount. I am not sure that I get it becasue I have been a customer for years or is it a general thing, my brother who bought something from them didnt get any. So if they dont offer the discount make sure you let them know you want that. Its 20 percent off the printed price.
