MarketTantrik
his answer would have stayed the same even if ND had managed to tap 99% of the cell's horsepower V Amen to that !! There is also a demo coming out next month, so we'll all be able to get a taste of the game before giving up our $60. Another reason to watch this game is the fact that Naughty Dog seems to be taking advantage of everything the PS3 can do, which is a rare thing in the market right now. We are utilizing all SPUs in Uncharted for AI, animation and lots of other systems. We are however just starting to tap into the power of the Cell. In future games I can promise even more utilization of the Cell which will result in more of everything, including game play. We'll be looking forward to the demo; it's possible that being an exclusive PlayStation 3 title that seems to really dig into the capabilities of the system will give the game a leg up this holiday season. We've been contacted by Sony to speak to some of the minds behind Drake's Fortune so that they can convince us that the game will indeed make a splash next month; we hope to have those comments ready for you very soon. MarketTantrik
^^ Nobody knows what the HP of the Cell actually is. I think that fact in itself would be quite worrying from a dev's POV. Maybe PES 2008 has already hit the limit as evidenced by the poor framerates in certain camera views.
CarbonCore
Well the only way to know that is to compare it with flagship title in visuals on that platform. I would've said 360 hit the barrier with CoD2's awful framerate if I hadn't seen Gears or that SoTC is the height of Emotion Engine if GoW2 hadn't come along. Ne0
GT seems to have OC'ed the cell processor - for the time being you can take this game as a benchmark/upper limit of cell processor's processing prowess !
nash
^^ Even Gears had terrible framerates during the cut scenes. I think that's a fk up with the Unreal 3 engine. Noticed that in MoH and another Unreal 3 engine based game as well (forget which one though).

CarbonCore
Demo set for Nov 8th ? http://www.ripten.com/?p=1143 Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the pulp action-adventure game from Naughty Dog that makes us weak at the knees, like a fat boy at the site of a triple chocolate fudge cake (is that PC? Moving on…) is soon to be gracing our Playstation3’s on November 20th in the US, and December 7th in Europe. But when do we get the demo I hear you ask (silently)? It was said by the game’s Animation and AI programmer Christian Gyrling on the Official Playstation Blog that “a demo will be available in the PlayStation Store sometime mid November. I don’t know the exact date as of now.” Mid-Novemeber isn’t soon enough though is it, that’s far too close to the release of the game. So Palgn.com.au did some digging and managed to get a healthy quote from Evan Wells, the co-president of Naughty Dog, stating… “There will be a demo. It’s…. being tested by Sony right now and I think it will be available probably about twelve days before the Blu Ray disc is available in stores. So, it will give people a chance to try it out and hopefully they will go out to the store and buy it.” O.K., there were the words “probably” and “about”, but we’re too excited to listen to that. As far as we are concerned, an Uncharted demo will be out 12 days before the American release…so in about 2 weeks! We can’t wait to get on down with Nathan Drake (uh, perhaps the wrong choice of words) on November 8th (at least on the US Playstation Store). Exciting stuff aye? Just a coupla weeks

No, GT4 is a full fledged game on PS2, GT-HD is just a demo for PS3 with similar physics as GT4 but running in HD.
MarketTantrik
Naughty Dog listens to fans, adds multiple resolutions to Drake's Fortune From Ars Technica http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars...tweak-uncharted ___________________________________________________________________________ My battle to bring recognition to Naughty Dog's upcoming holiday contender Uncharted: Drake's Fortune has been going quite well. The Showdown really got the discussion started, the game is gold and the demo is coming, and we'll have our interview with copresident Christophe Balestra up in the very near future. In the mean time, though, there's some more good news to report: a recent interview with Gamespot Australia reveals that the team has been listening to forum feedback carefully and has made some changes in light of user requests, including the much-needed support for 1080i. One of the nagging issues with the PS3 is that if an owner has a TV that supports 1080i and the game in question only supports 720p, the game will actually be downscaled to 480p—a significant price to pay for those who want a true HD experience. Evan Wells, Naughty Dog's other copresident, noted in the interview that a comment on the US PlayStation blog actually made the suggestion to include 1080i and, made aware of the problem, the team rectified it immediately: So [the team] brought [the 1080i comment on the PlayStation blog] to my attention--I mean, it was kind of embarrassing that we didn't know that before—and literally within the hour we had 1080i support up to take care of all those people. I've talked before about how I really like the level of communication that the internet allows between consumers and developers; combing the internet for potential issues and then amending the problems is a very impressive move, and I'm glad to see Naughty Dog is taking—and more importantly, using—feedback. Only one question remains: if it only took the team an hour to implement 1080i support, why doesn't every game have 1080i support? _______________________________________________________________ This is why the internet is such a great medium. --MT

CarbonCore
The on screen button display looks like combo string from Virtual Fighter. What's it for ??

CarbonCore
I think hand to hand will be button masher. If it is VF like combo then its even cooler, but I don't think that's the case. You see the button prompt when he is taking cover or shooting at the box. Btw, look at the freakin water, I haven't seen water effects in games like this that is so close to real thing
KnackChap
hand to hand combat is done with only 1 button i think (square),triangle might come in when they go into slo-mo i wont say hand to hand combat is a button masher, its context sensitive and from wht the devs and early playtesters claim you wont do the same combo twice ever.(that goes for the cover also)
