XSX GPU is much faster. Cpu,memory bandwidth. Everything faster except SSD faster on PS5. Also - PlayStation 4 Backwards Compatability for PS5 won't be 100% at launch, PS5 too fast for some titles, tweaks and testing on game-by-game basis. Sony can't guarantee 100% BC even with PS4

Then it's locked in price to whatever inflated cost console maker is selling it for. PS5 also has unified memory speed for entire 16GB stack while Xbox is again doing that weird split where 10GB is faster than PS5 and 6GB is slower. triggr happy ss
Just saw the conference lot of unknowns and disappointments on how it was delivered 1)don't know about VRS 2) BC only with PS4 and not the entire catalogue for the time being, if at all 3)when you spend 20 mins explaining the SSD and 5 minutes on ray tracing is just Cernydoubled down on the SSD instead of the GPU is quite astonishing. I wonder what real world difference we are looking at when it comes to 1st party games. If it's just faster load Times of 3 secs compared 6 on the Xbox then it's very disappointing. The 825 hdd storage , wtf is that? What SSD prices are we looking at for both the consoles ? Considering one is proprietary and Sony's SSD is not available in the market. Also with the bandwidth of 448 vs 560 ,it's always going to weaker than the Xbox when it comes to 3rd party games.

KyoyaHibari
One big annoyance in all sony first party games this gen is load times. I guess making a custom ssd means they’ll try and make games load lot less. Imagine games like last of us just never loading more than a few seconds. cyberpunk
Only PS4 BC and that too just for few games? Mehhh, was expecting PS1-PS3 BC.

All PS4 games will run in legacy mode, most will run in boost mode but needs to be tested. Sony needs to get ahead of this narrative that's been spread around that only some PS4 games will work. 1 hour ago, KyoyaHibari said: One big annoyance in all sony first party games this gen is load times. The fact that entire 16GB GPU memory can be flushed in under 2 seconds and replaced with new data means you literally never have to wait for more than 2 seconds whether loading for first time or fast travelling in games built from ground up for PS5.

kmkaks
Why isn't there more love for the audio part? I have always been disappointed by audio quality in consoles. If the kind of things they envisioned (PS4's full CPU capacity allocated for audio processing alone) is implemented in actuality, it could be mind blowing. Think about proper directional audio effects in a critter filled room in The Last of Us! After watching DF's reaction to the PS5, they seem to be more excited with Sony's vision. It's more personalized and passion driven.
WhiteWolf
Oh look Sony 1st party and 2nd party studios working with Sony are excited for PS5. Shocking. Lol Edited March 19, 2020 by WhiteWolf
playstationdude
The way they are trying to justify that SSD speed, makes me wonder if Sony has made a boo boo this gen.
KunjanPSD
Lol, 1st/2nd party devs are going bonkers over SSD. Even if it was 2.4GB/s, they would have gone bonkers because it's the system they are making games for. After a couple of years down the line, that SSD advantage will not be important, Series X's more grunt will be. DF is excited about different visions, not just Sony's. They want people to mix it up and have a competition on console level rather than just exclusives.

Its like VR, those who used it say its life changing, those who didn't call it a gimmick and sh*t on it. Its crazy that the 3D audio chip in PS5 alone is more powerful than entire PS4 CPU. Super exciting stuff for audiophiles.
