Lol, not even a joke. They'll might just buy Nvidia and scrap xCloud or rename GeForce now to xCloud.

Sony did exactly that. They bought both onlive & gaikai and made ps now. Back in the day these 2 were the only cloud streaming services. Gaikai was  more of a technology demonstrater while onlive tried and failed with a stadia like model.

It’s going to be gut wrenching if M$ mega plan of cloud streaming fails like it did for Google’s Stadia.

Not only have they put too much of their investor’s stake into it but they have basically mutilated the AAA games business as we know it.

GeForce Now RTX 3080 review: is cloud gaming finally a viable alternative?

Kicking off with image quality, it's worth stating that xCloud still seems to be work-in-progress - and even if the Series X silicon in the cloud is rendering at 4K, the image gets downscaled to 1080p. However, selected titles do seem to support 120Hz. There's the sense here that xCloud's streaming technology is somewhat limited while the processing power at the server-end is very good. In this regard it beats Stadia easily, but doesn't offer the 4K streaming option that Google has had since day one with its Pro subscription. To put it into perspective, Outriders is a 60fps experience on GeForce Now and xCloud, but the 4K output option for Stadia only delivers 1440p at 30fps (though 1080p60 is an option).

On a more global level, integration with existing gaming platforms is important. Microsoft's xCloud impresses because it is essentially an Xbox in the cloud, meaning that game progress and achievements automatically synchronise between servers and local consoles, while multiplayer gaming is similarly seamless.

Comparing GeForce Now which has been around since 2015 and a final release 5 years later and requires you have the games to 16 months old xCloud which is still in beta.

And what's wrong with that?

Right now, as it is, this is the state of both services latency(which was the point of that tweet), GeForce Now is much much better than xCloud if DF is to be believed.

At least in India GFN has better latency that Xcloud, at least until MS gets off their a*s and launches Xcloud here natively.

Yes, I'd definitely try it out.

Last I remember they said Mexico, Japan and India were next. Mexico and Japan got xCloud, no news of it launching in India.

Don't think they ever mentioned India.

Just checked, you're right, they never mentioned India.

Not sure where I read it then, official sources don't mention anything about xCloud plans for India.

WTF two year old “confirmation”

Also many ppl don’t realise this but just like Theatre owners & Movie distribution went gungho over all movies going on subscription/digital during the pandemic

Retailers around the world will go gungho if they realise yearly games of COD caliber will be given free to make someone’s futuristic agenda more appealing

This is good. However, 2 years is a long time to not have any updates. Hope it's not abandoned and they're still working on it.

A lot (Covid) has happened in the last 2 years, who knows. This is not even something that can be achieved working from home.

@KunjanPSDdid confirm some of his friends at MS India are actively working on it.

#SirXcloudWhen

Can confirm, they are still working on the CDNs, specific for India.

I have seen them running internal demos, not sure when it will be available for launch.

Agreed with this. I just don't see or understand the point of Metaverse in the current day and age.

I do believe there is a future for it but only in the AR form and it has to come in compact goggles.   VR metaverse , i dont think it will go mainstream, outside of gaming domain
