Anyway I think this stupid move by Sony is going to terribly backfire for them now .

Not only they will have to stop asking for discounts back . And just ask for upgrade cost.  But now users will ask for the option to choose how long they want to upgrade for as well . And many won't budge unless they provide an option for the same.

 

If they hadn't asked for discounts back there won't have been uproar like this at all . Majority of those who had 2/3 years left on Plus ( and wanted to subscribe to Extra) would have paid for the upgrade without complianing much. Only those had 4/5 years or more would have complained .

 

But Sony will have to give the option to everyone and will lose out huge revenue from mutli year upgrades purchased by many users at once now itself

The discount that they offered for PSplus was obviously for PSplus & not for any future tier they offer.

 

They are honoring that discounted into PS+Essential.

 

How can one call them dicks for not applying that discount when moving into PS+Extra from base PS+ which they purchased at sub par discounted rates.

But that doesn't give them any upfront revenue and since they are incurring huge costs in launching the service so it's understandable that they want you to pay for upgrades so they get some revenue from it .

I am stacked till March 2024 with crazy discounts but only knew basic ps plus at time and okay with it 

 

don’t know what I am gonna do now - 

 

1) wait for them to correct this 

 

2) create extra account to play any specific game for a month 

 

3) try to convert when new tiers go for discounts

No it's just one of their schemes to slyly make a little bit extra money on the side

only for customers to get angry, mediawalas to pick it up and for Sony to back pedal later.

It was for HFW  $10 upgrade scandal some months back, it's this now.

 

As it is trend hai abhi to hate playstation, and tricks like this aren't helping.

In a way it's like the old days almost at the end of ps3's life, where MP was free and you subbed to PS+ because they were giving out good ps3, vita and psp games.
