Why did Sony give PS5 FF7R integrade free upgrade to PS4 version which was given on ps plus?

Sony?! Think that's upto Square, like it's upto Capcom here.

Probably because of the backlash.. I wonder if people will care about RE though…maybe more people will take it as “obviously we are not supposed to get it “

Don’t most PS state of plays say “gameplay on PS5?”

So? Xbox games are on pc too…

unless they say specifically on xbox, it’s assumed it’s on PC …

although they f**ked up with the above claim and had to correct it..

So Sony has no say in it?

Don't think so, if they did, at least not enough to arm twist Square or Capcom.

I feel Sony has a say in this bcos they are the ones who has to pay monies to the publishers..

So in case they give the upgrade to RE7, they must pay Capcom..

In FF7 case they didn't give right away, it came after months so Sony might have paid cheap.. Also the delay was because of Intergrade...

So either Sony doesnt have a clause in place in deals with publishers saying any future PS5 version releases should be included in PS+ or collection...

Or.. They're being cheap to pay extra to the publishers for the PS5 versions :/

Sony’s case is a bit complicated because of the haptics and adaptive triggers.

They have a separate Dualsense team and they have to collaborate with the game developers to implement it well.

This is extra work, which doesn’t exist on Xbox.

That’s probably why Sony is very stubborn with these free upgrades.

I remember reading a dev interview where he said they had amazing support from this dualsense team to fine tune the haptics and triggers.

Don’t remember exactly which game this was. I think Control.

I doubt that's the reason. Both Sony and MS have to work with the developers in some ways and have various teams for that. For example, Xbox also works with devs for features like Quick Resume.

Resident Evil 7's Free Upgrade Isn't Free for PS Plus Collection Owners

Isn’t ps plus collection only for PS5 users? But free update is not included

#fortheplayers

always stay classy Sony :ranting:

They did the same with FF7 remake, it was allowed a few months later.
