I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom also goes the same way as Square

This is what smart companies do. Yakuza is a massive franchise now and millions of people anticipate their new games.

https://gamerant.com/yakuza-popular-xbox-game-pass/#:~:text=Yakuza franchise director Masayoshi Yokoyama,on the PS2 in 2005.

"During a recent interview with Twinfinite, Masayoshi Yokoyama discussed the Yakuza franchise's success with Western audiences in recent years. While Yokoyama found it difficult to discern whether the success was related to the franchise going multiplatform or Yakuza: Like A Dragon's new protagonist, Yokoyama did feel Game Pass played a major part. Yokoyama praised subscription services, particularly mentioning Game Pass, as being an effective way to introduce players to the series, allowing them to play past games."

We need people to BUY games not stall in the hopes of a gamepass drop.  Capcom dropped the Xbox one release for re4 and kept the ps4 version. tells you a lot. When users only tend to rely on subs, they BUY less

Dropping Xbox One proves nothing.

It didn't had many casuals buying it. So not many of them in use right now.

Casuals mainly picked ps4 so a lot of them must be still using them.

Helping the game reach out to new gamers on xbox is good, especially for a franchise like Yakuza. Capcom would hope this would help their sales in next Yakuza game, like RE8 which wasn't on GP and still isn't, they don't need to do that on established titles.

Yakuza already had a healthy fan following at PS, especially since zero and kiwami versions, they don't have to resort to day 1 on PS+ to get that outreach.

Resident Evil 7 was there for long time.

Monster Hunter Rise is coming day 1.

Capcom is embracing Gamepass. And it shows in their sales as well. Their games appeal very well to worldwide audiance.

Monster Hunter World sales are approaching 20 million thanks to multi-platform release.

Square is lagging behind even with big franchise like Final Fantasy. Something as big as Final Fantasy 7 Remake sales are under 8 million.

Oh it shows in sales alright.

MH Rise sales would be abysmal too had it got a release like other platforms. At least this way Capcom gets a fat paycheck instead of few thousand copies sold.

Here we go back to FF7R, releasing on Xbox will not make much difference, no point porting if people don't buy, most will wait or beg for GP release.

Again, imaginary tales. Few thousand LMAO.

MHW sold 1.7 million on xbox compared to 5.5 million on PS4. Plus gamepass royalty.

It did pretty well on xbox.

Yes, because MHW's sales of 20 million has much to do with Xbox

i would be shocked if it sold even 2 million on XBOX

Edit: Just saw your post above. 1.7 out of 20 is an amazing ratio /s

Eurogamer to 10 games 2022

1. Elden Ring (GOTY)

2. Tunic

3. Norco

4. Kirby and the Forgotten Land

5. Citizen Sleeper

6. Rollerdrome

7. Mothmen 1966

8. Roadwarden

9. Pentiment

10. Signalis

Can someone explain why Ragnorok is missing top 10 lists? It reviewed highly, close to Elden Ring. But is nowhere in GOTY discussions.

Ragnarok is 26 out of 37 games they mentioned, all 37 being must play games of 2022.

As for your question, the authors themselves have given the answer:

"There will inevitably be a game you loved that's missing or featured far too low, and a game you loathed sitting far too high. In those cases we can only apologise for our terrible taste."

I'll ask a counter question, why isn't there a single Xbox exclusive in their list of 37 must play games of the year? :roflroll:

There are multiple lists in which it is number 1 or 2 such as:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/krisholt/2022/12/30/the-20-best-games-of-2022-god-of-war-ragnarok-fortnite-overwatch-2-vampire-survivors-sonic-frontiers-horizon-forbidden-west/?sh=b418f4a4232b

It is another thing that you don't care about such lists. Try harder..

Dude, you can't be serious.

Tunic itself is rank 2 and it was xbox exclusive and gamepass day 1.

Pentiment is made by Obsidian, it is rank 9.

Their top 10 is mostly filled filled day 1 gamepass games. Citizen Sleeper, Norco, Signalis,

Xbox is absolutely killing it as far as critical reception is concerned.

Most people are not doing any research and have no idea what's going on.

It should be a norm to have it in top 10 lists, going by it's metascore.

Most of the lists I have seen, it misses out on a spot.

Few lists I have seen where it missed even top 30.

Something weird is going on with the game.
