The demo was true representation I think . Considering if we get this level of detail it is safe to assume NextGen will give us 1440p 30fps with ray tracing in open world games. I am not holding my breath for higher resolution or fps with this level of detail. However linear games should be able to hit 60fps with higher resolution ,if not 4K. Hoping to be wrong though, need 60fps for all games minimum. Edited May 15, 2020 by triggr happy ss
STICK3Rboy
I doubt we will be seeing many next gen games with that level of detail running at native 4K on either console. Would love to be proved wrong though.

I dont care for 60fps, I actually prefer 30 but 1440p over true 4k would be a waste of my TV upgrade. :|
Guest
7 years later and still 30 fps is hilarious. 2027 - 27 fps... 1 hour ago, playstationdude said: Even ps4 pro easily does 1440p 30fps, I doubt that demo is a true representation of the capability. How many games look like the tech demo? 11 minutes ago, STICK3Rboy said: I doubt we will be seeing many next gen games with that level of detail running at native 4K on either console. Would love to be proved wrong though. We won't see any UE5 game for min 2-3 years. Fortnite will be 1st of course. Other UE5 games will take years to come out let alone look anything like that. How many big UE4 games released this gen while looking great? Gears 5 Borderlands 3 Days Gone Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Games like Dragon Quest XI Dauntless Crackdown 3 Darksiders III etc all use UE4 engine too but look nothing like tech demo nor used at full capacity. Same thing going to happen with UE5. People are over-hyping it without knowing the difference between tech demo, marketing, and a game. kmkaks
Ah! Days Gone uses UE 4? The game looks stunning on pro, one of the best looking games of this generation, especially the rain and the overall wetness of Oregon.

Yeah, I was talking about next gen games in general and not specifically about UE5. I'm sure there will be other games next gen that match that level of quality or at least come very close to matching it. But I doubt any of them will run at native 4K on consoles. Yeah, wasn't directed to you but in general about the tech demo and everyone hyping how games will look. And not expecting native 4K60FPS on PS5/XSX. Maybe CoD/FIFA and other not so heavy titles but that's it. Going to be similar to current gen but with extra particles/RT.

Batman Arkham Knight on PS4 used custom UE3 and looked better than the games you listed. It is more about the competence of the artists and graphics team rather than the engine they are using. CarbonCore
Kingdom Hearts 3, FF7 Remake, DB Fighterz, SFV all use UE4 and look incredible. The engine basically saved a lot of big budget Japanese games. The UE4 tech demo looked impressive back in 2013, but was hilariously outclassed within first couple of years. And FF7R just plain shits on it in 2020 while using the same engine.

Would love to be proved wrong though. I believe the next gen consoles will use the upscaling technology a lot. With that level of details, imagine how games will look like. Both PS5 and XSX will use geometry rendering, checkerboarding, HDR and maybe some new technology added. They'll upscale 1440p or even 1080p to 4k and in such way that even with your face up close to the TV, you wouldn't know the difference. New TVs also comes with their own upscaling functionality. rAgHaV
I think more and more next gen games should have that god of war 4k/30FPS (Favor Resolution) 1080P/60FPS (Favour Frame Rate) option. Obviously GOW one wasn't true 4K but it made a world of difference. Played the game on my 4k HDR monitor with the favour resolution setting and would keep it that way for PS5 too. Visuals hone chahiye pretty bay. Phir chahe frame rate kyu nah ho thoda Edited May 15, 2020 by rAgHaV
