PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread

Iwe are forgetting sony launched ps now subscription service first and it flopped big time.

Microsoft came in and showed them how to implement the model.

subscription is the way to go in the future if implemented well and supported with good stuff. But still feel day 1 AAA release on game pass is a huge gamble by Microsoft to gather more audience. Hope it pays off well and we have some amazing competition to sony.

Good to see at least some people are hopeful and not predicting the end of civilization because of GP. IMO, MS are trying to do something interesting here. If it fails, it fails; the fallback will be the traditional gaming model regardless. Unlike a lot of conspiracy theorists out here, I think gaming will flourish with or without GP.

You are right. People who work in the game industry have to figure out a lot of things themselves. But consumers also have responsibility. Everytime a company does something predatory or releases a basic af game, there's always an argument that they get away with it cuz customers allow them to. They just act like mindless consumers and force other devs to use the same tactics cuz everyone's gotta earn. And then everyone's like "Games aren't what they used to be anymore"

It all starts with consumers. Period.

And my concern isn't fake. Nor am I interested in console wars. I have problems with Sony too.

Ya ofcourse, consumer should voice our opinion against predatory practices and buggy games, basically anything which affects us directly. But I was talking about Game pass specifically. Your above post is highlighting something else.

I don't see anything scummy about GamePass yet. Will it change in future? Maybe, if it does then i will stop supporting GP.

Let’s be honest, the only reason gamepass exists is because Xbox knew they can’t match sony on quality. This was their knight in shining armour- offer 1000s of mid games on a sub. It will always attract the price conscious consumer.  Throw in 1-2 good games in a sea of average to poor games.

Yes, Xbox one failure resulted in Game Pass. This is why competition is good for consumers. Sony kicking Xbox a*s resulted in we the consumers getting good service like GP which started weak, but slowly slowly getting stronger as time goes by. Service will improve as lineup gets better. If it doesn't then we have other options as consumers .

Also dont forget Xbox 360 forced Sony to adopt lot of new things as well. For example giving away free games with Plus to compete with Xbox live gold.  Competition is good for everyone. Sony will stop making bangers if they have no competition remember that.

Competition is good,monopoly is not.

Sony neither Nintendo ever tried getting into a monopoly.

Sony back in PS1 days was a hardware giant both in east & the west.

It was the Apple of those times thanks to Walkman.

It could have easily afforded to buy Capcom,Konami,SquareE,Namco,Tecmo & even few western publishing houses.
Squeezing competition dry of content & forcing ppl to buy it’s hardware if they want to play sequels to their old time favourite games.

But this sorta thing never happened & Japanese regulators wouldn’t have allowed it in the first place.

Instead they had to innovate so that the developers come to them themselves coz their creative idea was just not possible elsewhere(case in point MGS & FF7 etc).

Any individual who thinks it’s a good idea to let M$ own PC OS,Console hardware,Cloud Space,API algorithm,Store Front,Subscription Service & then go on to own half the big Publishers & their beloved IPs on the market & thinks that it would not lead to an anti-competitive monopolistic market sometime in the future is either an egoistical fanboy or a delusional guy who thinks getting Diablo/COD free for now is what matters & later if they are destroyed by having to run on handheld/mobile hardware with an exorbitantly priced subscription & no way to own them at a later date, shouldn’t be bothersome today.

As I said putting much bigger opportunities at line for immediate cheap & short lived thrills.

Even a puny child can just guess what the end game is,right now it’s the death of Playstation.

But soon it will be on Nintendo once the streaming market is able to replace handheld hardware.

After that they’ll either buy Steam or go after it too!!

Obviously I’m talking about 10-20 years into the future & apart from Playstation no other product will face the immediate flak.

No bangers from microsoft since last 10-11 years despite having too tough competition 🙈

Most of it is xbone era.

They have taken that time to build backwards compatibility, a strong studio portfolio and gamepass library.

We are getting bangers from xbox studios since 2021.

This isn't Halo- Gears-Forza only xbox.

Creativity levels are higher than PlayStation games.

So you are telling me they were strategising on ending/driving them out of the market based on their creative arsenal of 2019!!!

Obviously this motion was in plan much longer & the biddings started as early as GamesPass’s inception.

The plan was simple enough,

that start to distribute free games in the guise of a subscription which would have an official charge & then promotional distribution.

Go out on a spending spree from indie licenses to whole damn publishers & put it all on the said service!!

No one can compete with their deep pockets & would obviously contemplate shutting shop & turn into a complimentary business.

Soon enough(I’m talking years here)entire market will be forced to either put their content on GamesPass or just f**k OFF!!!

The moment they threatened UK government about consequences to cyber security, economics, politics.

I knew this is an outright threat to the entire world.

Imagine a company so powerful producing AI & no one to regulate them.

Todd Howard Has Been Playing Starfield on the Xbox Series S

"Todd Howard has been playing Starfield on his Xbox Series S whenever he's home, saying that it performs well on the more consumer-friendly model of the Xbox Series X."

I've been playing it with him, he says its sh*t and laughed at gullible people who just believed everything they saw on internet.
