Yeah, no. Anyone who has any foresight on what such acquisitions can lead to shouldn't be supporting this. It is way beyond just getting the game for cheap on Gamepass. Last thing anyone should wish for in gaming industry is further consolidation where there is minimal third party left and the power rests in the hands of select few. If Sony was looking to buy some other 3rd party publisher, I will be against that as well. We should wish for a healthy 3rd party ecosystem and for console makers to strengthen their existing studios instead of labeling trillion dollar companies as 'underdogs' and wish for them to gobble up huge publishers. If all you want is cheap games through Gamepass, might as well wish for MS to buy everyone. That will definitely account for a very 'healthy' gaming industry.

Ya buying publishers and studios is bad but money hatting 3rd party to get big exclusives to destroy the competition is good ? What sony did with death loop and ghostwire was fine ? Or the fact that they were going to get starfield also ? Had this happened not a word would have come out of anyone’s mouth and the argument would have been xbox did it during 360 days .

you’re acting like Microsoft doesn’t have that option. They did this enough and more during Xbox 360 days.  The only difference is no one wants to a console exclusivity deal with Xbox because their console doesn’t sell and their brand equity is probably in the pits in most markets outside of the US.  Maybe Xbox should have figured out not to decline in its third year of launch with the series consoles. Maybe then someone will think of not releasing their game on PS for a limited time

I don’t disagree with activision having a different cost sharing agreement with Xbox Vs PS. The cost and time and energy spent to develop a game for either of those systems is the same yet the benefits that they’re able to reap out of being on the PS ecosystem is MUCH higher than Xbox (terrible sales, money conscious game pass users who refuse to buy games)

Pretty much this. Fanboys have a habit of ignoring the side they caress each day. Both MS and Sony. The deal has both good and bad -- just like exclusives do for Sony. Just looking at one side and beating the drums is a fools errand.

Yeah because the limited time exclusivity (a year) is EXACTLY the same as buying out publishers for indefinite exclusivity.

Xbox has third party deals just like PS.

Scorn, Medium, Warhammer 40K, 12 Minutes, As Dusk Falls, The Ascent, Call of the Sea, Echo generation, Exomecha, falconeer, Gunk, Stalker 2 and more, were or still are timed exclusives to Xbox. Guess it's easier to ignore this and say buying a publisher and turning their sequels of previous mutliplat games into exclusives is the same thing.

Equivalent would be Sony buying publishers like Bandai Namco/Konami/Capcom/CDPR and turning sequels to RE, SF, MH, CP etc console exclusive to PS. I'm sure then people would go from calling Sony evil to Pure Evil, even though MS has already done this. (Before anyone climbs on my butt, clarifying that I'm not for either).
