PlayStation vs Xbox vs Nintendo thread

Baldurs Gate releasing on September 6 on console (PS5) right?. Thats same day or week as Starfield, and Baldurs gate being primarily a PC top down Turn based RPG will pretty much get ignored on Xbox because of Starfield.  Now people may look at my post as some kind of damage control, but no one here can seriously deny the possibility of console players (primarily  Xbox players) not playing this over hyped and highly anticipated Starfield? There's absolutely no way Xbox gamers will play this over Starfield if it's releasing day or week. MS will go all our marketing Starfield over any other game on their dashboard and billboards.

Honest question to everyone, how many console players actually played and liked last Larian game Divinity Original Sin or any old DnD games? Im pretty sure list will be very small or nonexistent. 95% of the audience is on PC for these type of games.

Now on to technical issues causing game to be delayed on Xbox.  This absolutely sucks and i can totally see this becoming a norm for Xbox in future when it comes technically  demanding game. MS needs to be proactive with developers and help them optimize the game for S early in development stage of the game or end forced parity clause between S and X.  Xbox losing any type of game is bad for brand and hurts consumer trust on the brand.

That's all i want to say on this issue.

I like dnd games a lot, BG2 is my top 3. Also finished DOS 2 a few months ago, would rate it close to Skyrim.

With that said, I don't mind waiting. Especially since Starfield is on GP, it would be crazy not to be playing it on release day. Baldurs Gate 3 has Diablo 4 pricing in India, not interested in that. But definitely will be playing the heck out of it when it releases and on a small discount.

EA posting record numbers with AAA SP game.

MS acquired bethesda and posting increased 1% gaming revenue :giggle:

That's how SP games work.

You invest $100 million over 6 yrs, then sell 3 million first week, giving you back $200 million instantly in revenue.

Next month though, you will be back to older numbers unless you have a new game. They are not steady source of income.

Nice logic for strong supply of copium to the bots.

But massively flawed.

The whole purpose of exclusives specially if it’s the “most important exclusive” in the history of an ecosystem (as being said for Xbox),is to make ppl from other ecosystems to jump into theirs to play something that they can’t on others.

This whole BG3 fiasco has made a self goal by offering something to PS5 owners that Xbots can’t have at the same time Xbox is getting Starfield exclusively.

Instead of jumping onto Xbox/PC to play Starfield these ppl would rather first try something that’s not available on Xbox & then think about Starfield.

And on the other hand if this title(BG3)picks up steam then it might even force some Xbots to jump onto PS5/PC to try it as it’s far far away with no certainty on Xbox.

It’s a self goal with nothing to achieve no matter which way you look at it.

BG3 needs good sales and exposure. It's big budget and risky cause these games historically don't sell 10 million copies.

So it's a good thing.

Starfield and Xbox will be fine. No need to be concerned about them.

That's like saying people will jump to Stalker 2 first over new COD if both released on same day.

I dont think Xbox or PC players will jump over super niche top down Turn based RPG like Baldurs Gate over highly anticipated Starfield, which is a more mainstream third person RPG from creators of Skyrim. Now if Starfield is crap and buggy mess at launch then i can see BG3 beating Starfield on PC and Xbox, otherwise there is no chance. Starfield will take all attention in month of September.

Baldurs Gate 3 also a full price game and not on Gamepass. Starfield will get bigger and more marketing from MS, its dayone Gamepass and its from creators of Skyrim which was a very mainstream highly successful game.  Starfield will easily overshadow BG3 on Xbox and PC dayone.

Marketing already started -

And lastly, you are right BG3 not coming to Xbox is indeed a self inflicted wound by MS and they have to make sure this don't become a common trend.

I can see BG3 beating on Metacritic but i don't think mainstream console and PC gamers will go crazy over it unless its absolutely something special.

It is gonna be special. That's why it will get high metascore.

Divinity OS2 has insane turn based combat. And scope of game reminded me of Elden Ring to some extent. It's huge and you go on a big adventure.

Since when did mainstream gamers going crazy over a game become a barometer of how good/important/relevant a game is? What kind of a stupid logic is that?

Since the era of Copium began.

It’s like saying that Demon Souls,Bloodborne,Persona,NiNokuni etc. missing out on Xbox was no real loss for it as all were niche genres.

In reality there is port begging & celebration on getting a port till this day.

Just like Halo & Gears lasted them entire 2010-2023 it seems Starfield is enough to satisfy them from 2023 onwards till 2036 :giggle:

Wut? Who said that? These games used to be must play and reason why everyone used to get PlayStation.

It's changed now though. Psychonauts 2, Hifi Rush these 2 titles are enough for me to get an Xbox.
