AnK
First & Foremost….cloud isn’t really a hardware. Secondly….they are obviously not going anywhere as they have invested close to a hundred billion just in acquisitions. They have already indicated they are partnering with other OEMs for hardware. But they are definitely quitting the proprietary platform business…meaning it won’t matter to them if the consumer is consuming their product through Steam,Playstation,Nintendo or Epic or any other. If these platforms allow GamePass today then they will be more than happy to strike a deal. But these platforms just won’t…coz they earn through royalty in sales & some have their own services. I was expecting it to be a distant third in the console race. For all its hype , Nintendo is not even half of what Xbox is making right now. Looks like Xbox is not going anywhere for another couple of generations, if it is making $23 billion in revenue! Nintendo's revenue this fiscal year is 11 billion and it dropped because of a dip in Switch hardware sales due to Switch 2 coming. Main thing about Nintendo, though, is that even though it's revenue is 1/3rd of PS this FY but its profit is 3.5 billion which is higher than even PS. Zod
There's no hate or dislike for Xbox hardware, hate is for Xbox management/leadership. XsX as as a gaming console is solid and runs almost all games good with some exceptions here and there. Its well built and reliable hardware. If you goto any popular gaming forum then you will clearly notice that Main Frustration/Hate is with MS management/leadership and their poor treatment of Xbox hardware and studios. Lot of people dont like the way MS treated console gamers and Xbox division within MS. Problem is with policy releasing games everywhere and not competing in console market after buying so many studios. But i agree with Neo, Xbox not going anywhere. They will remain active industry as a publisher and they will continue to release multiple hardwares Edited May 19, 2025 by Zod

They have been dragged out of that proprietary hardware royalty business completely & there is simply no sign of revival from any front. The studios they bought obviously won’t die overnight & will continue to make games as third party developers to a wide variety of platforms as they always were. Those games will also be given out on other subscription & cloud streaming services without any bounds as evident. Only reason they want OEM’s which won’t make any real money for them is to not have legal troubles pertaining to the digital libraries they have sold on Xbox Hardware over the years. Xbox Libraries will be transferred to PC OEM’s through their forwards compatibility program.

Eitherway, my point was that even though Nintendo's revenue might be lower than Xbox (primarily because they bought Activision) but their profit margins are much higher than Xbox and even PS. Xbox Fans hate them for going multiplatform and not competing in console market. No xbox fan had any problem with them buying studios to strengthen gamepass library. They were fully supporting MS acquisitions. They hate that leadership gave up so easily and didn't double down on exclusivity aspect after acquiring studios. Only SonFans like yourself and some biased media disliked MS for buying publishers like Bethesda and Activision and only Sony fans prop up these so called anti consumer theories which doesnt exists. Acquired studios games are everywhere and Gamepass is extremely consumer friendly service.

Yeah but they always said we will keep those games multiplatform, even before acquisition they said games will remain multiplatform. Gamers on every platforms are still getting same games. Nothing changed for consumers. I mean we getting those games on gamepass now. So acquisition is actually a pro consumer move as PC and Xbox users who using gamepass can play Call of duty without spending 100$, so its actually pro consumer move not anti consumer. And people should not forget that both Activision and Bethesda were intersted in selling their company. MS didn't force them to sell their company. Bethesda was going through financial crisis and they were in talks for buyout. Activision case was different, Bobby and other top leadership wanted to sell company for some other reasons. MS was given option and they took it. It was not hostile acquisition. You can only call it anti consumer if they did hostile takeover and kept those games exclusives. Ubisoft is under extreme financial crisis, someone will buy them too. I bet Tencent or some other company will buy them. I will be curious if any PS fan will call that move "anti consumer". These so called anti consumer nonsense started by PS fans without any credible argument. They were assuming games will become exclusive or hurt PS, nothing like that happened. There's not a single thing about Xbox which is anti consumer now. Xbox moves are anti fans but not anti consumer lol. Xbox moves pisses off fans but normal consumer is not complaining. Now charging for cloud saves is anti consumer practice by Sony but everyone is quiet on that issue lol. Edited May 20, 2025 by Zod
Zod
MS used to practice some anti consumer tactics during 360 days like keeping games as timed exclusive or keeping CoD maps as timed exclusive both were anti consumer moves. MS started it and Sony continued it during PS4 gen and still doing it. After disastrous Xbox one launch, MS stopped doing all of that nonsense and became pro consumer. Market reality forced them to take pro consumer steps and as a consumer im happy thanks to GamePass but as a Xbox fan i dont like that MS completely giving up on console market and becoming a multiplatform publisher. We want some good old console war dammit. Edited May 20, 2025 by Zod

Lulz The very reason why M$ dropped exclusivity on all of their owned content is because the hardware was not selling for the longest time. Not the other way around as you & many like you are portraying now all of a sudden. This latest spin is quite funny indeed but looking back at history it was ought to come. Keep spinning always Keep smiling always I don’t have the taste to argue anymore as it’s endless & pointless…. Xbox is no longer a direct competitor to Playstation or Nintendo. It’s over for them in that regard….. The War is over as far as reality is concerned.
Zod
I clearly said after disastrous Xbox one launched market reality forced them to become pro consumer which they never recovered from. I was just pointing out your false anti consumer rhetoric in my post. Xbox was only anti consumer during 360 gen but hardcore fans loved Xbox for those anti consumer practices. From 2016 - till now, MS has taken steps which are anti Xbox console fans but you cant call them anti consumer. Consumers are happy, they dont have to spend 6000Rs to play new Bethesda, Xbox and Activision games and they dont have to buy additional hardware to play those games. Decent PC is all you need now with gamepass subscription to get complete Xbox experience. Edited May 20, 2025 by Zod

Zod
In case of Activision, since dayone MS said they will keep games like COD and other Activision games on all platforms including Nintendo console, they also said it in court under the oath and before that on TV interviews. Everyone with any kind brain knew that MS will never make games like COD exclusive, they will lose billions in revenue if they skip PS. Here https://www.ign.com/articles/micosoft-activision-blizzard-call-of-duty-playstation-sony-nintendo-contracts Article was published before acquisition was completed and before case went in court. In case of Bethesda, they said case by case basis first. Now, they changed their stance to releasing games everywhere to recoup the cost spending 80b dollars. MS did flip flop their stance based on financial situation and market reality but none of these moves are anti consumer. Consumer not affected by any of these except maybe hardcore fans who wanted these games as console exclusive. Zod
Ponies can't play single one of them unfortunately. Reason - they all too expensive atm. So they waiting on sale or someone to sell used copy. So they busy posting nonsense here. While gamepass users enjoying it without worrying about sale or anything. Everyone playing Expedition 33 on gamepass here and its 92 + Metacritic.
