AnK
Neither Bollywood nor Hollywood nor any other video entertainment industry I know of is releasing their mega budget projects on Subscription Day1. They are cribbing for not releasing those big ones on Subscriptions for a significant period altogether. Disney+,Lionsgate,Paramount+ or whatever have their own streaming OTT platforms but still they aren’t releasing their Mega budget AAA movies on their own subscription Day1. Because it just doesn’t make sense whichever way you look at it. Disney acquired Marvel but never releases those AAA mega budget MCU movies Day1 on Disney+. It’s exactly 1:1 case scenario where M$ has bought Activision but is releasing COD day1 on GamePass. I kinda agree with Bobby Kotick,PeteHines & Mike Ybarra etc. who’s companies M$ acquired & they feel it doesn’t make remote sense to launch all AAA games day1 on GP. All have stated the same one by one.

Many production houses in India have also started the trend, some are even launching their kin with direct to ott (ex the Archies), as they don’t want to risk theatres anymore! No high Budget AAA movie is released on Subscriptions. Only very very small budget movies & shows are releasing on Subscription. (Not counting the pandemic period) Case in point neither Disney in Hollywood Nor JioStudios in Bollywood release their mega budget projects on their own subscription platform day1. Netflix & Amazon makes their own content which are never released in theatre & are not the mega budget projects we are talking about here. Now obviously even AltBalaji makes their own content for their subscription platform but that’s like wtf comparison!! You won’t see Disney releasing Avengers or Avatar on Subscription day1 & same is the case with JioStudios.

First fact check for you, I don’t know what do you mean by a AAA movie. The nomenclature is usually used for games, not movies. If you’re referring to budget, a simple google search/any random ai tool would show you all the original movies that released in Netflix/prime, just check what was the budget of these movies. All the below movies released day 1 on Netflix and all of them had top actors/directors etc with budgets, similar or even more than most Hollywood movies : The Electric State: $320 million ( 2025) The Gray Man: $200 million (2022) Red Notice: Approximately $200 million (2021) Your whole argument/premise that subscription services is going to kill the gaming industry is completely invalid/devoid of any facts. There may be some side effect during the transition phase but eventually most companies would get around to the new model. Monetisation strategies would change, but most companies will find a way to work around it. Edited September 9 by Ne0

He only hates gamepass coz its Xbox service. If PS in future start releasing some games dayone on subscription services, he will change his stance immediately

His main issue is that , a rival service is is giving games on Day one while the platform he has paid for is not. If he really has so much issues with subscriptions undermining the gaming industry he wouldn’t have purchased one himself, day1/day10 doesn’t matter, it’s just a ruse for hiding envy, nothing else 😂
AnK
Lmao…..neither of you two have paid full GamePass price & are clinging onto freebies while arm chair discussing health of the business!! Meanwhile Bobby Kotick,Pete Hines,Mike Ybarra,Shawn Layden,Jim Ryan etc:- Lol, I subscribe to PC game pass at the monthly price, whatever Microsoft charges in India - ₹529 ( the way I see it, it’s still cheaper than my Netflix subscription), not sure how it makes a difference in this argument to you, but anyway that’s another fact check for you! Also, You’re not making the point you think you’re buddy. In your mind you think with all these emojis and videos and these twitter stuff you post, you think you’re making some brilliant/knowledgable arguments, but in reality the more you post in this topic, the more you’re coming off as the envious / sour grapes guy It won’t change our mind as a consumer, after all half the joy in owning something is when you see other’s envious of it Before I close this debate, I would like to say if you’re really that concerned about subscription based services harming gaming eco system, cancel your own subscription service first and start purchasing games. Whether you buy the game on day one or day 100 the amount still reaches the developer ! Else you will continue to sound as an empty vessel/sour grapes guy just making lot of noise Anyway, had some free time so indulged this friendly banter. No hard feelings intended. Peace out✌️ Edited September 10 by Ne0
AnK
My argument & the Big Industry Personal quote I posted was solely against mega budget AAA content going Day1 on Subscription. Neither the Subscription I’m enrolled to nor the general entertainment world is following that Day1 path. But some how you are hell bent on not listening to facts & knowledgeable ppl who have worked a lifetime & fortune in this business. Reason is simple…..your own wallet. I totally get that & obviously no hard feelings. But end of the day it is what it is….. Neither M$ nor any Xbox executive have come out in the open with their math of acquisition amounts isto the revenue they are generating from it. The whole unit is in shambles & relying on Software sales on rivals & hardware manufacturing on rivals. But yeah as long as GP subscriber’s wallets don’t get charged more they will obviously not agree to these visible facts…..no matter what. So adios amigos

Peace out✌️ Yeah i also paid full price. 1 dollar option expired last year. I bought 2 years of core and upgraded to ultimate again till 2026 end. Gamepass value is unmatched. Its better than anything Sony or Nintendo offers Edited September 10 by Zod

RV1709
Does the 1$ trick still work for game pass? I’ve been told it’s the best value in gaming
AnK
Only trick that works at M$ is fool the dumb bots into buying your expensive good for nothing rig trick!! 58k spent at launch + interest could have fetched them endless game trades & multi year PSExtra for decade to come on their PS5 which they had to buy out of desperation anyway!!
