Yeah that's what is confusing why DS is not in any categories but has same release date as MM.. Is it like our film fare awards where remake movies were not getting any nominations Edited November 19, 2020 by Assassins Creed

WhatsInTheName
How come FF VII is there if remakes are not allowed? 1
hsk_colossus
So they don’t count all the games released this year ? No demon souls.. cyberpunk ( if it’s good) also misses out than.. might as well have the awards in January and include all games

dylanjosh
I think what happens in these awards is that all the games are eligible (even DS and SOTC) but people just naturally avoid voting for them for the reasons AnK mentioned. hsk_colossus
Nominees for The Game Awards are selected by a jury of more than 95 media outlets and influencers. (The full list is available online; Polygon is part of the jury.) Ballots were sent out to outlets on Oct. 29, due back on Nov. 6, before a number of this year’s biggest games were released. Outlets also had until Nov. 13 to send in updated versions of those ballots, if changes were necessary. To be eligible, the game must be released before Nov. 20, which makes it tricky to vote for games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Watch Dogs: Legion, Demon’s Souls, or any other game released in early to mid-November. A lot of people simply hadn’t played those games yet, excepting those members of the press who had advance copies. (In the case of Demon’s Souls, advance copies were not made available.) https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2020/11/18/21574150/the-game-awards-nominations-2020-games-list

See FF7,RE2/3 are totally fresh new games Apart from plot & characters everything is new SOTC & DS on the other hand have exact same design inch by inch DS has re-modeled & re-animated everything but the design is the same It was already nominated back in the day Pretty much agree with everything said here. Some remakes totally changes the game-play, like RE2/3, FF7. Other remakes opts for a more cosmetic changes. Both are remakes in their own right but I think the industry needs to come up with a term to differentiate between these 2 types of remakes. 0verlord
15 hours ago, AnK said: Official Press Release If you see carefully, all these claims are originating from Ubisoft. Ubisoft claimed performance but they weren't able to deliver that. How's XSX hardware at fault? Clearly, Ubisoft devs didn't code optimally for XSX because they don't have enough experience with it and a patch is expected. Ubisoft claimed and didn't deliver. That's the bottom line. It's hardly shocking looking at Ubi's track record of buggy AC games. Also, Ubisoft didn't explicitly claim "NATIVE" 4K at "LOCKED" 60fps. All the wrong interpretations of "full 4K" are at the fault of readers/gamers. I'd like to see PS5 topping XSX with competent devs like CD Project Red and Cyberpunk 2077.
