PS4 install base is much bigger.

Plus, it doesn't matter that it's available on MS store. The game has very little credibility left. I doubt many people bought it after the initial weeks on consoles.

Many Xbox owners backed out from buying Cyberpunk Xbox disc from me because of a rumor that it'll be on gamepass one day.

I was selling it for 1800 :bash:

People strongly believe that it'll come to GP this year, which is probably why the sales tanked on Xbox.

They also had 8Million+ pre-orders iirc, so this number isn't surprising.

What's shocking is almost half of this is for last gen console. Meaning their gamble to not show any last gen console gameplay paid off.

How did it sell more on PS4 despite being missing from PSN for 4 out of 5 months? And with MS marketing deal? WTF?

Edit: Those numbers are for 2020.

Not sure why this is so surprising but aren't the reasons very obvious? PS has more than twice the install base and most people probably already bought the game before it was taken off PSN. I bought the game Day 1 but didn't even bother playing it outside of the first 2 days or so.

Here are some W3 numbers for perspective...

Quote

PC: ~12 million

PS4: ~ 10.8 million

Xbox One: ~ 4.3 million

Nintendo Switch: ~ 700,000

Total: ~28.3 million

If anything, it actually did better than expected.

All console versions of Cyberpunk are last gen only. They tracking the version sold, not where people are playing it on.

Because the game has been missing from PSN for practically the whole time except launch. Its practically a PC/Xbox exclusive with Xbox marketing. I never expected PS4 version to outsell Xbox in these conditions.

Ps has more than double the console sales of xbox so more ps sales is not surprising. Also even if its available on pc and xbox doesnt mean people will buy a broken game.

But those are launch numbers (2020) -- the game was available for both PS and Xbox at launch.

Yeah that makes more sense. If it included current numbers till April, Xbox would be ahead for sure.

Agreed. I'm actually rather curious to know how it sold in 2021. It's a bit weird that they only shared data till 2020.

13m sales were reached before it was removed from store.
