I personally have shifted to buying most games digitally since 2015-6… but Sometimes I do buy used copies of games for playstation… there are certain advantages…

I'm 90% digital but I will never bat for a digital only future on consoles with shitty refund policies, no regional pricing and paid online.

Things going digital only is bad for AAA gamers on consoles

specially in the third world

I bought Far Cry 4 at launch & left midway

It was lying idle so sold it

Recently when came back to gaming I bought it again dirt cheap second hand & as soon as done sold it again for same price as bought

Don’t know why any sane AAA gamer would advocate a digital only future

Unless of course as I explained Subscription services offer much more than what they currently are & I completely doubt that’s feasible

ya ivg is entire gaming world

Yeah its dead everywhere else and IVG is the Wayward Pines of physical games. Come on now

Edit: Wait, is the pushback against physical from certain group because TP is dead for Xbox and there are no Xbox games in IVG library? Because that makes a hell of a lot of sense now.  Why didn't I think of it before

You think brainwashed Sony brigade will understand anything you, Joe nd all posting here? So don't bother wasting time here lol. Most physical sales warriors here buy 90% of their games digitally here.

Yeah because only post 2014 when new consoles launched (end 2013) did all AAA titles become avb day and date digitally on release date unlike ps360 generation where digital store was mainly for smaller (non indie) titles and many AAA titles came late or never arrived at all. along with the indie revolution (on consoles) and easier self publishing ( again on consoles) arrived this gen, did digital sales start blooming but don't let logic come in the way of propaganda.

Yep absolutely right

the segregation between lifetime buyers & the ones who sell/trade/share only began in PS4 era as during PS360 hardly any AAA games used to release digitally on day 1

Also counting games that are not even releasing physically like AA & indies in the overall digital vs physical is again pretty much pointless & stupid

I have only 5 physical PS4 games, and the last PC physical game was I think Fallout 4 bought in 2016 iirc.

Since then it has been digital, for PC it's pointless because physical is mostly just a cd or two in a shitty cardboard box with a cd key, and these go OOS very fast and never restock, buying via Steam is cheaper and convenient.

I also bought once from Origin that is BF4 premium edition long ago.

On the PS side nothing beats convenience of PSN, same like Steam, just buy and download, I have fast internet so it doesn't take much time compared to 3 days for Amazon delivery, tho physical goes on sale faster than digital, but once a year passes after a game releases there is not much difference.

Buying on TP is just too much jhanjhat so wouldn't bother with it anyway.

But we know all the love for "digital" here is by the gamepass gang renters who crying about 5K gaming in every PS game or the PS5 thread

I think digital sales increased because of corona induced lockdowns in many places, they can't lockdown your internet connection you know.

I was wondering why anyone would willingly give up the right of ownership, that too for console digital stores with garbage pricing/gifting/refund systems, but this all makes sense now. Digital renting>physical buying. Chandan bhai from Namokar gaming also rents digital PS5 games

Most of these ppl are always seen looking around where to buy AAA games on day 1 for PS5

If it’s so convenient why not buy third party games on XBox digitally too

Cos it’s just plain stupid to even think spending 4-5k upfront with no resale value

It’s all a debate of convenience actually

M$ offering games on subscription so digital is king

But when it comes to other publishers it has to be physical & that too on PS so that it’s easier to get rid off & getting some ₹ back!!

Oh wait… so the people hate digital because Xbox pushed digital content….

lolz you can’t make this up ??

Hating digital and not wanting digital only future are two separate things. You would know that if you actually made effort to stuff being written here instead of trying to win arguments by writing nonsensical one-liners.

On the topic, it is obvious that more and more people are going towards digital. It is moronic, however, to think that the 65-35 split last year was not driven by pandemic. Ultimately, wanting a digital only future is sad because it does limit choices and I wonder how can anyone, in their right mind, would bat for that future

Hate comes from ppl who write articles & explain how something is dying & furthermore who keep shilling about it by re-posts

Not by the ones who aren’t saying anything or initiating any sort of debate about one medium vs another

Despite being pro disc, I find myself having almost half my library in digital format simply because of PSN having better sales and discounts than it used to on the Indian store.

Personally, I think they are at a very mutually complimenting place right now. Good to have a bit of both I think. Also, renting a game through subscriptions like PSNow or GPU is not owning.
