Why? I know why, coz these franchises are hugely successful unlike Kz and Resistance.  GG never going back to KZ as KZ3 was total flop and so as Resistance.

Horizon Zero Dawn was in development since 2011.

 

You didn’t expect something this unique & massive coming out within 3 years did you?!?

HZD was a good game, but don't oversell it. It was nothing "unique" or mindblowing. The gameplay was fun and the story was decent, but the open-world and missions was extremely lackluster and couldn't hold a candle to BoTW that got released on a far inferior system. 

 

Keep praising Sony, nothing wrong in it. But don't sh*t on something without having played it or actually understanding how successful it was. FH3 sold 2.5 million copies in retail a few months after launch and Forza is a billion $ franchise for MS: https://www.engadget.com/2017-02-14-forza-is-a-billion-dollar-success-story-for-microsoft.html. I am sure that the execs in MS are at least as smart as you. They aren't blind fools to keep funding millions of $ to a franchise that barely sells anything.

I didn’t label any game as “failure” (someone else has the audacity to do that)

I just said that KillZone/Resistance made/shared similar commercial & critical success while at their peak. 
 

It’s just that Sony decided not to focus on them anymore as they thought they could do better elsewhere. 
 

Now with each new entrant into the discussion it’s going to be given a new spin.

I never brought in GT to the discussion. Was merely stating that Forza is not a failure. Your statement that Killzone is as successful as Forza is highly debatable. The last entry in the series sold 2 million copies after 1.5 years into the market. 
 

sony probably didn’t see the franchise evolving much and decided to pull the plug. The hard truth is that Sony decided to not make any Resistance or Killzone games (as far as we know). We may not know the reason, but market trends/sales could be a reason. Still dont know why you can’t let someone simply state that Forza is a successful franchise without having to pull so much sh*t out of thin air.

1.5 months & not year. The only time they gave official number for the game was when it sold 2.1 million with the PS4 install base being just over 4 million.

Forza has churned out 13 games 

obviously you can’t compare it’s “billion dollar” status with something that peaked on PS3 only. 
 

KillZone & Resistance in their peak on PS3 were selling as much as Forza was “during the same time” & they were kind of equally matched critically too. 
 

The whole point was that Sony stopped focusing on them not because of their “failure” but because they felt they can do better in other genres & they were right. 
 

I don’t really need to oversell HorizonZD or Spider-Man coz they sold 15 & 20 m each. 
 

Similarly just because Sony asked Sucker Punch to make something new(or vice versa) doesn’t make Infamous a failed franchise. 
 

It’s just stupid to think that way & even more stupid is to enter the discussion & spin things.

The game was a commercial success, selling almost 800,000 copies as of 25 December 2013. As of 2 March 2014 it has sold over 2.1 million copies.

 

The game released in early November, which makes it roughly 2 million copies in around 4 months or so.

I posted the official sony PR above where they sold 2.1 million units as of 15th Jan 2014 which is less than 2 months since PS4 launched in America, 1.5 months after euro launch (few countries) and was still to release in many countries worldwide.

 

2.1 million on a console base of 4 million with and attach ratio of over 50% sounds pretty good to me.
