There are barely any units here BECAUSE PS is more popular btw, xbots told me that series s will be the most popular console in India due to the price tag and gamepass and no one will buy 5k Sony games in India. So, what happened? Edited January 4, 2022 by RV1709
Vaibhavp
6k is too low for quality of games, consoles and services on offer. MS needs to do more to be competitive. Especially marketing and highlighting their strengths. But my guess is everyone is instead getting games via PC.

Not many ppl give a sh*t about the games being offered on GamesPass outside of hardcore audiences. Most core ppl are happy with FIFA,COD,Fortnight,BF,GTA. Outside of these it’s the Sony first party like GranTurismo,GoW,Uncharted,TLOU etc. which are popular Has been like this for a long time now. Not to mention Spider-Man now. Halo & Gears used to be popular too specially among gamers from South India but that is in the past now. CarbonCore
I don't know why people are shocked by 6k figure. This is still 2x more than what Xbone did in its launch year. 2

AnK
Insomniac’s Spider-Man is the biggest gaming IP on the market right now. I don’t think it will be replaced until GTA6 maybe.

One thing MS has done - they have optimized games for PC pretty well. Unlike say Ubisoft - MS games don't consume much resources at all, and run pretty smoothly. So anyone who has a half-decent PC, like say a 970 or maybe even 1060/1070 can easily play the entire catalogue of MS games. For many, there really is no need to plop 50k+ on a new dabba. Not to mention, MS even has some games - like Age of Empires 4, that is exclusive to PC (IMO AOE4 was the best MS game this year). Unless people's GPUs start failing en-masse or MS starts putting out sh*t PC ports, you might not see much Xbox sales from the hardcore gamer community. PS has some true exclusives though, so many people go for their existing PCs+PS 2 hours ago, 0verlord said: most people are buying the PS5 to play games like Fifa and Cricket evident from GamesTheShop’s IG account posts which could be considered a very close representative cross-section of Indian gaming console scene Yup, from my experience - this is absolutely true. Try selling any console and most of the buyers who come - if you talk to them will tell you they play only FIFA. Heck, even school kids are mainly onto FIFA and COD from my experience (if they are not on mobiles that is). Also, most people get the PS5 simply because their FIFA friends are on PS5. It's essentially become an automatic cycle. Friends on FIFA PS5 -> I get PS5 -> More friends on PS5, because I have PS5 version -> On and on it goes. So, what happened? Availability bad everywhere for SX due to chip shortages. But you are right PS is more popular here but you can't deny availability is also bad. Xbox one was easily available in retail stores but SX just comes and goes once every 2 or 3 months and that also on few selected online retailers. Its like they don't care about this market much as demand for Xbox is not much here. I was looking to buy one but i couldn't, so i ended up buying PS5 which was more easily available in a local store whereas SX hardly available at local stores outside of grey market. In comparison Sony constantly releases more units here everywhere both online and at local retail and as Rishi mentioned in his article, Sony has bigger market penetration than Xbox. They have good relationship with multiple online and authorized local retailers and they all promote PS big time on their website. And as far as Series S is concerned its price tag way too high for indian market. 35k is bit too much for it. People would have bought it more if it was under 30k Edited January 5, 2022 by WhiteWolf

AnK
Lmao I have seen multiple instances where SX was available through out the day. Not to mention SS which is like constantly available throughout since holiday, which was also supposed to be the Trojan horse ? to penetrate Indian marketshare according to experts. PS5 on the other hand has been a constant struggle to get till this date. Please don’t give me this BS of XB supply issues.
Vaibhavp
We have 1k members on Xbox India discord. So about 1/6 th customers have joined a single community. Xbox community seems well knit. 48 minutes ago, AnK said: PC is actually the best place to play M$ games now. The negligible Difference that GamesPass PC & XB had is diminishing by the day. PC vs Xbox feels like iPhone vs Android experience within same ecosystem. It feels curated, especially if you go full digital with Series S. I like playing on console. It feels seemless. AnK
There are like 200 well knit communities on PS. Teenagers in school, old pals, office colleagues. They all sit on evenings & enjoy online gaming. Not to mention IVG,Facebook,Whatsapp PS communities. No one gives a sh*t about GamesPass as they buy 2-3 games in a year. Only the most hardcore & dedicated gamers will care about something like GamesPass as no one has this much time in regular life.

RV1709
It’s so surprising even for a value conscious market like India - the combination of gamepass and a cheaper current gen console seems right at home and yet it’s selling so poorly. No brand power, I fear. i guess the ulta beauty partnership will change the tide.

Demand is less for Xbox in general here, you right, but still doesn't change the fact PS5 is more easily available here as Sony releases stock every month here. Rishi himself mentioned in his article that PS5 was more widely available in both online and physical stores. SX only available on selected online retailers officially. No big physical retail chain selling SX whereas PS5 banners are easily can be seen at Croma, Reliance Digital nd all. Guy from whom i bought PS5 got direct contact with Redington India and they confirmed not much stock coming for SX. He said stock will come this month and if it does come, he will keep one unit for me coz i still looking for one. Im not gonna buy overpriced grey unit without warranty or used 2nd hand SX. SS is easily available but its,way too overpriced here. So no one cares. Im not buying SS lol. Its for casual gamers like you Edited January 5, 2022 by WhiteWolf
