Sad part is that a lot of'em are gonna pre-order <_<

All I can say is the quality of the game is proven excellent. So people are not losing anything pre-ordering. Also, I doubt NB even wants pre-orders for this, considering they opened the store page some 10 days before release. I wouldn't be surprised if even this is so people can immediately play the minute the game launches, instead of the dev opening the store page on launch and people buying it then.  And the wallpaper is to just placate the companies like Sony, which makes it compulsory that something has to be given to buyers before release. So since PS4 most probably gets a theme, Steam gets a wallpaper so no one feels left out.

I have played enough of Ni no kuni to know that this game is excellent(liked it better than the sequel). I didn't mean to question the integrity of the game rather the act of pre-ordering. The idea of pre-ordering was to ensure you get your copy during physical copy days and I don't see the purpose of pre-ordering in today's world because the copies can't exactly run out per say since digital is involved. I apologize in case my statement sounded tarnishing the game.

I agree with you 100%. But can you even call this a pre-order? True, in the old times pre-ordering was to ensure copies, and there is no shortage now. But people had patience back then. We did not mind delays of couple of hours or even days. But these days, people want to start playing the minute the game releases, which can even me midnight of 20th in US for this game. Opening the store page some 5-10 days before release, so prices can be known. And starting the pre-loads a bit later is a great way for those with slow internet to download the game and keep it ready so the people who are in a hurry can play the minute the game unlocks.

Now there are bad pre-orders as well. Many games open up pre-orders as soon as the E3 trailers release. And many times the game is not even in alpha state or playable in any way, and is 1-2 years away from release. And people know nothing about the game except 1 CG trailer, and yet pre-order. Those are what I would call bad pre-orders. Opening the store once the game is fully developed, with only minimal changes remaining and some couple days from release is not bad at all. At least in my opinion.

If nothing else, it makes people aware whether there is regional pricing or not, b**ch about it and budget for it or look for alternative sellers.

I won't be pre-ordering this game, just stating my view on the matter. Apologies if any of my statement offended you.

Not offended at all mate :) , you listed your points in a healthy way without any prejudice which is a rare quality nowadays and I appreciate it. Also you do make a good point about not waiting. Maybe I can't relate to it because I never felt the need to pre order just to play at the 0th minute but again that's just me.

now the hate against pre ordering is because I have pre ordered a lot of games(mostly physical copies to make sure I get one) and got Burned multiple times. I still remember pre ordering Duke Nukem

$50 seems expensive for a remaster of a 8 year old game. Fine, PC players get to play but the remaster is barely a remaster/upgrade.

The remastered version will run at 1080p resolution... No other changes or upgrades. I could just play with RPCS3 at 4K instead.

Very disappointing. Was hoping for $30-ish. Guess I'll wait for Christmas/deep sale.

Can't you just buy from the Indian Steam store? It's INR 1990 here (US$27.76). Also any source on PC version only supporting 1080p/60 fps? Generally for PC they go by 16:9, so all 16:9 resolutions should be supported. For PS4, of course it will be 1080p as that's standard.

The game is absolutely worth it though. It's a timeless legend. Much like Princess Mononoke or Spirited Away. Something that should be experienced. There's a reason why almost all the people who played NNK1 did not like NNK2. It was like comparing a mediocre/OK game (NNK2) to a legend (NNK1)

Free dynamic theme of NNK1 on Playstation store India

The remastered version will run at 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second. The Switch version of the game will run at 720p resolution and 30 fps. The game retains the original mechanics and systems; the world is unchanged except for the graphical fidelity.

As for price, I spoke more in general. $50 is very steep for a remaster which is barely a remaster. It is simply ported. The game is legendary as everyone says and maybe because of it they are charging such high price. Plenty of them are disappointed with the tag.

Video says that PS4 Pro will support the game @ 4k 30fps or 1440p 60fps. Shouldn't PC version support the same?

Just wait. PC version will support all 16:9 resolutions (720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4k and whatever else). It will also 99% also support 144hz/120 fps. It will be considered a bad port otherwise. The only question is whether it will support 21:9 ultrawide resolutions or not.

Everything You Need To Know About Ni no Kuni Remastered

  • 1080p and 60 frames per second on a normal PS4, with options for 4K/30fps or 1440p/60fps on PS4 Pro.
  • It also includes all the DLC from the PS3 version.
  • There’s some stuttering when you rotate the camera while on the world map. It’s also a little jarring when the game switches to anime cutscenes that play at 30fps.
  • The Switch version is actually not the remastered one. It’s just a port of the PS3 version of Ni no Kuni, at 720p resolution and 30 frames per second.

  • 1 month later...

Completed it. What an amazing game!

As with most Jrpgs, it does need a fair bit of grinding, but the beautifully animated world and amazing music more than make up for it.

The game looks crazy good on the base ps4. The remastering has been done beautifully. Well worth the time and money that went into playing it.
