This is probably the closest thread here related to my question.

I have a dormant ICICI account that I want to restart, has anyone had any experience in this. CS on the phone was not helpful at all.

Is it safe to use Cred considering it wants access to lot of private financial info?

I am using cred and it has access to my statement as well.

This is not embarrassing. What's embarrassing is trying to get a card for couple of weeks, and getting rejected while your wife who applied for fun gets it approved. Fml :wallbash:

So after 6 weeks I got my card :D they rejected initially and redid KYC and then approved.

I guess you had given the app permission to access your mails. Maybe that's why they have access to your statement.

Yes, correct. I thought that's what we've been talking abt. I don't think it can actually get statements from the bank.

Not sure about ICICI but with Citi had an account that was dormant for about 4 years. I just had to submit my PAN, update address docs etc. This was about 8-10 years back fwiw.

Back then yep. Not sure if this is still the case. Not worth visiting the banks now unless it's urgent. Scared the crap out of me when I visited recently :(

Write a letter to the branch manager saying the needful , my bank had a pre filled form to fill up

Attach Pan and other address proof with signature

They will reactivate your account within 2 business days

My Axis was dormant since 2013 reactivated last month only

I'll have to go to the branch... I attached the necessary docs as on the site. but they declined giving the reason ' Unavailable '.

CS here is trash.

Just found out that HDFC Diners Black CC is lifetime free for final year students and alumni of my college (worth 10k/year otherwise).

I don't want to have more than 1 CC. Seems like this is the best deal.

That's a great card

Will apply for it, will get it in Jan/Feb as HDFC has some software upgrade going on. Works well since I use HDFC only.

And they usually have the best cashback, SBI also usually has great offers.
