I just got mail that I can upgrade from Regalia to Regalia Gold at no cost. Worth it?

FYF or LTF?

I got the upgrade, can move up the ladder in the future

Happy new year folks.

I currently possess an HDFC Regalia Gold (got it LTF with work) and an ICICI Sapphiro (got it LTF under the alumni offer). Decent cards, mostly using the HDFC, ICICI is good for 1+1 on BMS movie tickets.

I used the Fi debit card on international trips to save on forex.

My family primarily uses the Axis Vistara card (upgraded to Infinite from the Signature) - as it adds towards CV points and vouchers usable on domestic flights.

I'd like to put my purchases on a card that give me the best possible rewards and convertable to miles on international air carriers. What card should i be getting or is the HDFC Regalia Gold good for now?

If you're eligible for Infinia Metal from HDFC, then do try to get it. You won't get it as LTF, only FYF. But even then, the annual fee of 12500 + GST gets you 12500 Reward points, or if your spends are high, it might even get waived off. Redemption for miles and hotels are in the range of 1 Reward point = 1 Rs.

Diners Club Metal is almost as good a card as Infinia, but you may face acceptance issues internationally. For domestic, acceptance issues are practically non existent these days. Eligibility criteria is much lower. Reward rates are lower than Infinia, redemption rate is same.

Outside of HDFC, do consider AMEX Platinum Travel Card or AMEX MRCC, assuming you're in a serviceable pin code. Send a DM if you would be happy to use my referral links.

Infinia and DCB are getting devalued, TK/LM/Accor are also going 2:1 from 15th Jan.
As for reward rate, the new milestones might make DCB Metal better for particular users.

PTCC is decent though.

Which ICICI card can i get for offers? Something that is LTF probably?

Amazon Pay ICICI is an amazing card.

Alternatively, If you were looking for core cards, then follow this:

Sapphiro > Rubyx > Coral > Platinum (LTF)

(Most rewarding -> Least rewarding)

(Most difficult to get LTF -> Easier to get LTF)

ICICI paid cards aren't worth the charges they're asking for. Whichever one you can get as LTF would be ideal.

I always had the ICICI cards as LTF. Began with Coral, then Rubyx, and now a Sapphiro, all LTF. Got the Coral when they came to my college and offered the card, never looked back since! Sapphiro has been best for the 1+1 on BMS for me, up to INR 500 per ticket is free which is pretty damn good!

Thanks. My use case for them is to use it only on sales. Amazon ICICI cards dont give the instant discount of 10% on Flipkart and other sites. Platinum seems better and maybe i can work my way up.

Burgundy welcome kit doesn't include a CC.

Burgundy welcome includes a debit card and basis upon whether they were able to print your name on it or not, they either include it or send it later.

Useless Reddit thread.

Oho

Lol ya useless thread indeed.

But what a waste of a welcome kit then. It's all just unnecessary documentation that like 5% of them even go through lol.
