Is Diners being allowed again? 60k + tax makes it 80k - which is a huge amount. How can you even compare that with something that costs 15k annual? And Amex acceptance is still extremely low in retail and I’ve run into so many issues while trying to use it even in restaurants.

I was assuming that you expect to spend 10LPA+ and for that kind of expenditure, especially on travels, you will end up earning benefits worth of 2-3L easily. So the Plat makes sense then. Not really for restaurants.

Diners is being allowed again but not LTF afaik.

With travel still being extremely restricted, there is no point in getting a card that is exclusively travel oriented. You ll end up using the green amex for work travel anyway - this only makes sense if you end up country hopping on a regular basis and that too with your personal money. Definitely not for my paygrade ?

How rich do I have to be to get an upgrade from regalia to infinia

In general, you need to have atleast an 8lpa limit on your Regalia, spend approx 10LPA and it helps to have Loans/Insurance/Investments with HDFC. If you have a long standing Savings/Salary account with them, it makes things easier.

Overall, since it's an invitation based card, entry criteria seems arbitrary, the gist being, the more spend/save/borrow with HDFC, the higher the chance of getting the invitation.

Has anyone done a spends to reward comparison between the ICICI Amazon card & HDFC Regalia.

I use the ICICI card for Amazon only shopping and HDFC card for everything else. Was wondering if it makes sense to move my recurring spends such as grocery, daily travel, etc to ICICI for the 1% cashback.

I think you are even eligible if you have 10L+ in savings or 15L+ in FDs. But you need to have 35L+ salary (afaik) and good credit history with the bank, even if the spends are not that high.

My father has lifetime free Infinia. His account is 10+ years old but amount has never crossed a couple of lakhs. He never uses that card - I don't think spending crosses 10k a year. No loans or FDs or anything too.

They also give Infinia if you're their Imperia customer. Though not lifetime free.

So IMO - either you have a very long relationship with them or have shown high spends or have 10 lakhs plus of savings - you will get it.

Imperia needs 10L+ balance, monthly.

I already have that, just needs some history on my Regalia.

It doesn’t need 10L plus monthly balance. By the end of the month, I barely have 10k left in my account ?

I was still offered Infinia

They look at the average monthly balance, there is a way they calculate it. I will never have that high lumpsum in savings accounts, as I only keep 'living expenses' there, everything else goes into investments & emis. I hate the fact that I have to go to the bank to close off a credit card that is expired and not been used since 8 years. Either that or snail mail a letter to them!! Feels so backwards! This card is blocking my upgrade to Regalia, as they are issuing a new card until the old is cancelled. Customer exec suggested to activate the old card and then ask for an upgrade. I'll just be patient once I get the Regalia and slowly builds towards Infinia.

Must be a high spender then?

Not more than 30-40k pm on this card. High credit score, salary account (brand), longstanding relationship with HDFC and a reasonable monthly salary

Mine is pretty much the same except my previous history with them has been just through a savings account and EMIs on DC.

My salary also credits in HDFC but it's not a salary account.

Salary won't be as high as yours.

I just want Diners, better points and rewards on Smartbuy. Hopefully sometime soon.

Did you get an upgrade from Regalia? If you did, what was your credit limit on it, if you don't mind me asking. I'll be starting a new job next month, thinking of getting a HDFC salary account, currently with ICICI. Will sort the Regalia before that, so the HDFC relation meter starts at the very least.

I've read that the reward rate on amazon is something crazy like 15%.

Yes, on Smartbuy you get reward points close to 15%. I don't think there is even a cap on it (not sure).

Diners get 10%.

And Regalia now just gets cashback/discount worth of 5%, no points but with a monthly cap.

If you can get just one card then Infinia is probably it.
