Devaluation was inevitable. But the way Axis has pulled the rug, does pinch. Touching the base reward rate is almost sacrilegious, could have done away with milestone or the multipliers but then again, even a paan wala was getting a Magnus till a week ago. Accumulated points can be moved out but the points which haven't hit the account yet will be transferred as per the new ratio, that's unethical. Axis has shot itself in the foot because hardly any of the loyal CITI user base will stick around. Was great while it lasted, onto the next best thing, Infinia and the Amex Trifecta (post referral restart). Until another bank tried to win the Indian CC market. Yes, they lost quite a bit of it, but the same guys will come crawling back to Axis if it launches another card with similar rewards after a year. Magnus gave access to the low spenders, they made dreams of spending for a year and getting a once in a lifetime holiday. Also, it's not just about having 300k points. The planning which goes into earning, optimising and redeeming these points, is an investment and suddenly that investment is worth 1/4th.
