So they could always have got Insomniac to develop it on a contract basis and it would have been exclusive anyway. No need to acquire entire Insomniac for that. This is why even Nintendo doesn't buy studios that have been making nothing but 1st party games for them for decades. So many of their games come from these contracted studios.
