Pretty brave move to actually feature a white supremacist cult as the antagonists in today's times. Wonder how the average white American male gamer will react to this. Tyler Posted May 28, 2017 Report Share Posted May 28, 2017 It's Ubi trying to recover from the backlash against Far Cry 3's "white saviour" storyline. Sure it didn't matter much to gamers but the media made a big deal out of it back then. They made the protagonist in FC4 a non-white and now have gone a step further by making a racist cult the main villains. Also the game certainly wont flop, the series is too big and has a wide appeal (FPS, open world, violence). People are lukewarm on this reveal mainly because at this point the Ubisoft open world formula has become stale and the setting probably won't appeal to many. I expect similar reactions to the new Assassin's Creed. These game taken individually are actually great, it's just that they keep pumping them out so fast - at some point people are bound to get tired. A lot hinges on the actual gameplay reveal, if it's still a copy-paste FC game like 3->4 expect decent critic scores, bad user reactions but decent sales... at least enough for them to make a spin-off and do a Far Cry 6 in a couple of years.
