Is this a competitor to Diablo?!?

or Dragon Age?!?

Obviously looks nothing like ElderScrolls or Witcher.

Neither Diablo nor Dragon Age.

More like Xcom (top down turn based) but rpg with insane build variety, fantasy setting.

Larian Studios says it may have to make "compromises" to get Baldur's Gate 3 out on Xbox, with Microsoft engineers helping to get split-screen working on Series S:

"Everybody wants this out on Xbox. It's not that we don't want it out on Xbox."

Just cut Split screen from S version. And advertise it on store page, no split screen for S users.

Its like Divinity Original sin and 1st Dragon Age origins game.

They make quality RPG games. Highly recommend trying their games if you fan of old school Bioware RPG games.

It's not that straight forward I'm afraid.

Microsoft mandates feature parity between S and X.

MS will have to give an exception in which case more devs might request same in future, or remove that feature from X as well. Best case would be Larian manages to get it working in time.

Both Sony & M$ usually sign a standard feature parity aswell with Multiplatform developers.

Meaning the game should feature exact same features which are being offered on the rival console.

M$ won’t allow the game to be shipped on Xbox if Playstation has SplitScreen & they don’t.

Maybe with a customised contract but this game ain’t no Diablo or Witcher.

Let’s see.

No, parity between PS and xbox consoles is different. That would be, if devs can implement a feature on PS, that's also on Xbox, they must implement it on PS as well, they cannot skip it.

But if they cannot implement a feature on xbox, which is present on PS, then it's OK to be skipped, just like dualsense features.

This case seems to be on similar lines, they're trying to have the split screen work on Xbox Series S, if they mange to get it to work that's great, if not then Xbox version will be missing it. Technically, S should miss but not X, but the MS parity expectation between S and X means X will also miss it.

It's beyond weird

It's an RPG so they give you option to romance bears

Am playing Wasteland 3, it gives you romance option with a goat. Later you can discuss it's side effects with a doctor who gets aghast by your tendencies. It also has reputation system so you sometimes run into NPCs who have heard about you doing that.

But yeah, Larian I don't think have writers as good as Inexile. They made DOS2 a bit goofy and light hearted. That's the vibe am getting here as well. Doesn't look suitable for this game.

After series of great games this year, BG3 might get good reviews but this game doesn't stand a chance for goty.

Metascore I am assuming will be comparable to Zelda: Tears. No reason to think otherwise.

By GOTY I mean it will win personal GOTYs rather than many publications giving it. Zelda will win more awards cause it's build on that template. CRPGs don't win those.

Other games I don't see in the race maybe except Starfield if Bethesda can pull it off.
