If it is not something you would normally play, but it seems like a social thing and you’re more of a social player, but it doesn’t really cost you anything to try it out, you go in, right? So we will hopefully get those players and reach out to a wider audience than we would have otherwise. I think it’s going to be really good for the game. Some folks here are dead against anything Gamepass. It was targeted at them. I agree that it depends on the game. For a lot of niche games or new IPs, gamepass can easily help them become popular. Kinda like what Netflix did with picking up dropped but critically acclaimed series or even bankrolling/supporting varied content. If you are gonna put your established IP on gamepass day 1, then it is likely that MS is paying shitloads of money. But I don't see anything wrong in it. It becomes very discouraging to see your game not getting attention just because it is not from a popular/established franchise. Why would EA or Ubisoft or Rockstar or any non-MS company put their game on GamePass when they can sell it first for full price first? The majority were not willing to pay for Outriders or Back 4 Blood but thanks to GP they got to play. MS pays the studio -> people pay for sub -> enjoy the game while publisher their money without having to wait for people to buy or end up being flop.
