Mulan is heading to Disney Plus on September 4th for $30

Quote

The $30 fee will be on top of the $6.99 subscriber fee for Disney Plus customers. Chapek also made it seem like non-subscribers can pay $30 for the film as well, but The Verge has emailed Disney to confirm.

It's a new movie bro. You're getting to stream with theatrical release. Amazon prime in US also let's you pay for stuff not available to stream. Nothing wrong with it.

You have to pay both for Disney+ and for the movie itself. It should have been one or the other. Thats how Amazon does it and how it makes sense.

It's a theatrical release movie. They simply couldn't release due to covid. Don't expect this to continue. Also, its Disney not raste ka maal saste mein like Netflix and Prime. You can't expect all Disney movies to be on the service day 1.

Looking at Disney's recent pedigree, all the live action remakes, raste ka maal is better

Saw this movie - 'A suitable girl', on Netflix.  Although it's similar in theme, it's much more hard hitting and grounded in reality than the cringeworthy TV show- 'indisnmatchmaking'.  Co incidentally , both feature the same matchmaker - sima !

Say whatever. It's still all billion dollar money makers. Too much to expect from a subscription especially in India where it costs only 1.5k a year.

Exactly. Expecting a company to make money back by making it available on the service is not realistic, especially for a movie which is expected to earn in the north of $600-700 million at least.

Disney’s announcement this week that it will be releasing “Mulan” on streaming platform Disney+ has left one theater owner in France so upset that he posted a viral video to social media in which he destroys a “Mulan” pop-up poster with a baseball bat. The video clip has earned almost one million views and counting on Twitter. Deadline tracked down the man, Cinepal owner Gerard Lemoine, who said he it’s “very hard and devastating” to hear “Mulan” is heading to Disney+ after he spent months promoting the film at his theater in Palaiseau, a suburb south of Paris.
