Loved the overall experience. Such a nice and fun movie! Didn't overdo the nostalgia part but there were still a lot of cool refrences to the old games esp the throwback to Mario & DK's debut game. Critic reviews have always been bad for the "fun blockbusters" kind of movie. Reviews can be mostly trusted for more serious artsy movies. Both critic and audience reviews are useful. It's the perfect movie to have a fun time at the movies with your friends, even the non-gaming friends. The movie is fun in its own right, and not just fun because of the references.
