Have you read DC recently ? They are doing a reboot every couple of years or so. The New 52, then Rebirth. They had another project called 5G or something, which they cancelled - was supposed to be another reboot.

I was the under the impression that Rebirth was done because of bad reception for New 52.

And Rebirth was well recieved.

Should have picked Martian Manhunter/Green lantern/ Static shock if they really wanted a black superhero. Unnecessarily making a movie with black superman, most people won't even relate to.

There's already a GL TV show in the works.

Possibly true, but it's gonna bomb. Majority of people won't connect with a black superman. Should have gone with a proper black superhero.

Eh I'm not opposed to a black Superman but I like Cavill a lot and would prefer him to stay.

Disagree with "people wont relate". If its written well and the movie is good, they'll relate. We're all used to seeing a white Kal El but thats only because it written back 100 years ago. There will be initial awkwardness but once that wears off, should be ok.

Or not make Superman black at all. It was written as white character and should stay like that. If blacks (or whites) have problem with that, they can make movies on black superheroes or not watch.

Why does it matter so much? Superheroes go through a ton of versions, revisions and changes over time. Someone here mentioned theres a reboot every few years in the comics. I see it as just another version. If its good, stays true to the morals and spirit of the original and it clicks with people it will stay. If not, it will fade into obscurity.

Btw, Nick Fury was written as a white character but I think we can all agree that the Samuel L Jackson version is pretty much the best version of the character.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is kind of similar. He looks quite different from comics wolverine but he was awesome in the role and in a lot of people's minds Hugh Jackman = Wolverine.

Just to be clear, They aint making a Kal-El Superman Movie by replacing Cavill, but a Val-Zod Superman (From Earth 2)
