Any review for Alien Romulus?

Worth a trip to a theater?

7/10 for me. Better than Alien 3/4.

Went to PVR IMAX (Logix - in case anyone from Noida is reading). I don't know if its my theatre or pvr in general, but the print quality wasn't great. It felt as if a 720p print has been forcefully put on Imax screen. Edges were blurry, except things which are in close up. As if someone left the focus "just" before perfect. Very very weird.

I complained, but nothing changed. The trailer looks 2-3x sharper than what I saw on thr big screen (and I'm fairly sure it was a theatre issue since you can't produce such an unfocused film in 2024). In many scenes, you couldn't even read the text in the ship controls, the planet's outer belt was blurry as well. Focus issues spoiled the experience for me - and I'll definitely go to a different theatre to see it again.

Story wise - it mimicks much of OG Alien, but with a dose of Aliens, Alien 3 and 4. Homage of sorts.

Some of the scenes are genuinely scary, and it is more in the horror category vs Aliens 2/3/4, again looking at OG film for inspiration.

Andy's character is superb - loved him.

Last 20-30 mins are both amazing and repulsive, so good job there by the creature devs.

Will definitely recommend a theatre watch. Not many Aliens fan out there in India. Imax hardly had 20 people on Friday night. Even today, seats are easily available, so don't think the movie will do well commercially in India.

So it was Logix who f**ked up. Watched it again at another Imax and boy it looks awesome. Excellent cinematography, spooky 70s score. Noticed a lot of Easter eggs in 2nd watch. Andy is awesome.

Only 2 gripes - too much piss filter at some places, and Aliens seem too...slow. The ferocity of Xenomorphs from all previous movies is missing.

Still a decent watch, and still grotesque last 20 mins

Because of holiday yesterday we made a random plan to watch Khel Khel Main which was getting good recommendation by people around me. Movie was surprisingly good. Will resonate more with married people.

Akshay did well after a long time in the kind of age appropriate role he should do more often. Fardeen was good in his comeback. Rest of the cast was decent. There were some really good Lol moments.

Although I wanted to watch Alien Romulus but because of wife's insistence we went for this and it was a good decision in the end.

Saw Dune 1 on Netflix. Took me 4 sittings to complete. One of the most boring sci-fi movie I have ever seen. Heard part 2 is much better so will watch it soon.

Yep the most boring & over hyped crap I ever witnessed.

2 is available on Jio but I’m waiting for Atleast 2-3 more good content to come before I subscribe again.

Saw part 2 also. Better than 1st but not something exceptional. Both movies were waste of my time. Glad I didn't waste money and time both by watching in theater.

The comments :roflroll:

I didn't see a single positive comment😂. But I think these days marketing strategy of giant companies is just not as straight forward as it looks. They are doing this intentionally, to spark conversation in every corner of the planet like we are doing here and it can be possible by doing such things what Disney is doing right now. This tactic is cheap and it works every single time

Even the actress of this movie has been bashing the old snow white movies in her every interview, I mean why she's doing this? Its all planned.

We all know that internet is now very accessible in most part of the world, even in poor countries. Companies like disney want to cater that audience. They can do it by making movies based on completely new story line and imagination but they didn't, they choose to make changes in the stories and characters that are legendry from our Grand father's generation or even older Idk.

They changed tactics after her initial interviews. Watch this video, it popped in my feed after I watched the trailer

That Rock's eyebrow raising move by Snow white is highlighted here :giggle:
