Refund system is relevant to every sensible consumer out there. Refund system is extremely important for every gamer out there (who not a fanboy) and Steam and Xbox both are leading examples of consumer friendly refund systems.

 

Both Japanese companies, Sony and Nintendo are terrible when it comes to consumer friendly policies. I mean Nintendo will just show u middle finger if u ask for refund on any game lol.

For some ultra weird reason Sony has stopped discounting Essential altogether.

It’s a big dent on the wallets of ppl only looking to play multiplayer & not the monthly games.

It’s as if they are forcing ppl to upgrade if they want real value for money deals.

 

And I thought they will go back to multiplayer being free once Xbox concedes defeat since Windows,Epic & Steam all provide it for free.

Tbh, people with essential should upgrade to the mid tier sub. Its a no brainer actually.

All tiers are garbage. Unless you playing online and there's some real good cheap deal. Dont use Plus service 

 

 

And Sony will never make it free even if there's no competition in market coz they know people are now used to the service and its easy free money for Sony. 

 

Same goes for Nintendo. They charge asvwell and Nintendo service is worst out of all. They dont even give good offers on service. Lol

Not sure why Sony will make it free regardless of what Xbox does. It is a huge revenue generator and people have accepted it now. No way they will make it free. Doesn't matter if its free on PC, never has mattered.

They already made it free for F2P games at some point…& Xbox was forced to follow.

There essentially is no difference left between free to play games & paid products when it comes to online multiplayer…all features are exactly the same.

More so the market hardly gets any paid product that has long legs in multiplayer….most of the popular ones are f2p anyway.

Even the juggernaut that is COD is drifting towards F2P Warzone rather than Multiplayer Fragfest.

 

So I recon at some point they might think that it would actually boost more sales & playtime in such games where the consumer is only interested in playing online & doesn’t want a Game Library or Catalogue.

 

Just my 2 cents.

I get what you are saying but for an individual who is interested in playing MP in paid games, I don't see 50-60 being too much for that person that it would hold back him playing and massively increase playtimr overall if made free. But for Sony, its a huge revenue generator. Don't think that loss in sub revenue will be compensated.

To be honest Sony should cut Monthly Games & have a similarly priced Online Services only Subscription below Essential.

Yes its cheapest service and If you have friends and family members who love playing Nintendo games then i guess there's value in it.

 

But i was talking about games Nintendo provides through that service. They add extremely old NES and SNES era games. Those games you can play on PC through emulator or on some cheap Chinese knockoff console from Palika bazaar like game master or something . New nextgen games adds biggest value for me now. Im in 2025, i dont want to NES era  or 360 era games.  I want current gen stuff.

 

 

And nintendo not only locks online multiplayer behind paywall but also cloud saves and party voice chat as well. Now with Switch 2, they adding this game chat feature also behind paywall.

To be quite honest if Sony and MS provided a sub for only MP and Cloud Saves and online features - but no games at all (Forget NES/SNES) -  and priced it at 1800 Rs/annum I'd take it too! Current Gen Game Subs have worth only on months where there are some interesting games! Price-wise Nintendo is insane value - second only to PC which is literally free! Game Rentals should have been separate and online features should have been separate IMO
