This should not happen. Please no :(

We will be in big trouble if lockdown is lifted. Atleast till may it should be complete lockdown.

Yeah. The second we declare the lockdown over, and start gong out and celebrating, its not gonna be good for us.

I feel lockdown should extend to 1st May, after which a decision can be taken if it has to be lifted or further extended.

State govt also need to play a big role now. For districts which are none to least affected from this virus, a continuous lockdown would be unnecessary and people should be allowed their daily routine. They should however be very very careful about allowing inter district/state travel esp if one of it is an affected zone.

The central govt must be very careful with railways and domestic flights. There will be a huge crowd whenever they open back so it has to be carefully planned.

I was not talking about India, I’m talking about US.

In India, there is no incentive for innovation in drugs, the patent is done on process to create the product, not the product itself.
So while it keeps cost of medicines low, there is no motivation for companies to come up with  new drug, because all its competitor has to do is find a way to create the same compound with different production method.

US is the worst country in the world when it comes to things like this. Public is held at the mercy of a select few.

Also patent system in India is better. We tend to not allow such evergreening of patents, whereas in USA it is allowed. This is why they still have extremely overpriced insulin, even though it was invented 100+ years ago.

Also due to government own inefficiencies, private companies have a lot of scope in developing for the govt and bulk supplying. A friend who works in CRI, Kasauli told me that the govt. vaccine costs 3 times more to manufacture than private companies. A prudent move for the govt. would be to give private companies the contract to manufacture. There are a large number of companies who would be willing to do this.

I think Raj Thackerey has to be brought in.
I don’t know how but what he says is 100% correct, still same idiocy going on

There are many things he says right, and many points and issues he takes up that no one else does. Even then, I don't think he should be in power because of his extremely authoritarian ways. What other politicians in power should do is follow him and use parts of what he says in their policies, while ignoring the hateful parts.

It is better because it creates competition so companies keep prices low, it is better because availability of certain drugs is never hampered.

it is bad because there is no incentive for innovation of drugs for new diseases like Corona, it is bad because we can never create iconic drug like Viagra. :)

Two different things.
Two different systems, Both are imperfect,

but in today’s context India’s liberal patent system is NOT helping. You can’t ward off corona by chewing 10rs paracetamol made by 5 different companies.

Our pharma companies usually don't engage in that. Pharma R&D are pharma manufacturing are two different things. That's just the way this market is. Making generics at competitive prices is challenging but it is still low hanging fruit compared to researching new ones.

However medicine price control (which I feel is absolutely essential for end users) or govt. monopoly on supply is not necessarily a deterrent to innovation. Germany has price controls and Bayer is still one of the world's largest pharma companies in the world.

Good news that Jabalpur has had only 4 cases and there is no new case reported at all in weeks.

First city to become corona free hopefully.

They should ban the travels outside and to Jabalpur atleast till June.

That has already been done in many cities and all district borders in Maharashtra. They should slowly open up the lockdown while keeping city/district borders closed so normal service can resume.
