I don't like black coffee neither I drink coffee for the caffeine. I only like it for the taste but obviously that means to have it with milk mostly or if it's iced coffee then need some flavouring like caramel/chocolate.

So what will you recommend then? Blue tokai will work for the taste? I am not sure if cold brews will.

Also my sister recommended to buy Davidoff although not sure.

Try their assorted pack. I found it to be really smooth, smoother than Sleepy Owl.

The light roasts were... light. More fruity. Have to still try the Dark roast. But the Attikan Medium Roast is really good.

Assorted pack will be a good idea tbh.

There are flavorings available for coffee. I even have some lying with me for the past 3 years or so. Usef them once, but honestly, I don't like anything with coffee except maybe cinnamon.

There's a HUGE difference in the taste of coffee when you move from Nescafe to actual coffee. Night and day. Nescafe is sh*t.

I tried Davidhoff at my sister's and it was so much better. Given that it's instant as well I was pissed that I have been using the sh*t which Nescafe labels as coffee.

Will get the assortment pack from Blue Tokai.

I mainly drink cold coffee only if I like it with milk then will try to make iced coffee.

Get cold brew packs. They are very smooth. You'll find them better than Davidoff.

You also have a vibrant community of Indian coffee maker now. Blue Tokai, Sleepy Owl, Columbian Brew, Bonhomia, Slay, Dope etc.

I thought I was the only one. I drink coffee only for taste, not for caffeine not for staying awake and I am not a fan of black one either (so far) although it feels attractive to see black coffee, so maybe one day?!!!

I never even heard of Davidoff till only about a week ago when my nephew bought it. I make it like I make usual nescafe which is to mix it in a cup and make a paste of it and then pour hot milk and add sugar. I am not sure if the powder coffee (it's crema intense I think) is supposed to be made like this but I am enjoying this Davidoff a hell lot more than Nescafe! I think I'll just order another right now.

Now that I am browsing Amazon, what flavor of Davidoff do you guys recommend?

I tried Crema too and I will never go back to Nescafe cat litter. My sister likes the Rich Aroma and Crema the best.

Although there is one Explorer's Edition as well, more expensive but supposed to be better in taste, try to get that.

You can make it the usual whip the coffee way but if you can get a milk frother, cheaply available then just mix the coffee in water to make a concentrate and add that to the frothed+normal milk combo.

Also if you have Modern Bazaar in your city then go on their website and order from there, they have most of the flavours and no risk of getting fake products.

Can you make a proper cold coffee with cold brew packs?

I am looking at ones from Blue Tokai. Any recommendations please for coffee without any specialised equipment?

It's more made for iced coffee. For cold coffee with milk, I think you will need to cold brew it in way less water or use their easy pour packs and let it get cold enough to add it to the milk.

My sister actually has a nice coffee machine and she creates a shot even out of the instant coffee and pours it into the milk but that investment is not justifiable if you are not a coffee aficionado.

Nescafe is sh*t.

This.

Edit: Good to finally see some love for coffee on IVG. :)

BTW, I mainly drink black coffee without sugar every morning.

I have a simple French Press and the coffees I've tried are (in no particular order):

- Blue Tokai (Vienna is my favourite)

- KC Roasters (formerly known as Koinonia) - Slightly expensive compared to the others in this list, but well worth it.

- Toffee Coffee Roasters

- Colombian Brew Coffee

- Starbucks (Ethiopian and Italian) - Super expensive compared to others, and sh*t as much as you want on Starbucks, but they know their coffee and it's evident in their bean profile and roasts.

I generally prefer a medium to dark roast, coarse grind (obviously, since I use a French Press).

When it comes to Instant coffee, Nescafe is always my last resort, if I don't get my go-to, which is the Colombian Brew instant coffee.

Edit 2: Planning to invest in a complete pour-over set in the near future. My trusty French Press has lasted me about 4 years now, and moving to a pour-over is the next logical upgrade. But, the scale and the goose-neck kettles are kinda expensive. :fear:

It's pretty simple. You put these brew packs in a jug full of water (measurement differs with pack), and keep it in the fridge for 12-15 hours (more if you want a sharper shape).

Simply add milk/sugar as needed when you are drinking.

The difference is the smoothness. There is no bitter taste like instant coffee, and you can use the roasts you like.

Nope, you'll have a diluted cold coffee experience as these are primarily to be consumed only with water

You could try with mixing the cold brew in a very strong ratio of like 1:4 but then it's like cutting vegetables with a power saw, it might do the trick but it's not what it was meant to do.

Keep in mind black coffee is not everyone's cup of tea. Even I drink cold brew and have been doing so for like 4-5 years now. I drink it for its taste as I don't get caffeine addiction, etc.

Nescafe gold is a much better coffee then the regular one which is utter shite.

My experience for cooked brew has been the same. Starbucks Kenya is Love.

I've also tried flying squirrel and it's also pretty good. By try I mean I've ordered at least 5 times and my friends wanted to try it out, but sadly they removed the sampler pack on their website, maybe by mistake. :(

KC rosters amrut is also great,Worth a try the next time.

I am putting a stop ordering from outside. The quality has gone to dogs. I had a bad case of indigestion ordering food from mainland china.

Mainland China has dropped in quality/hygiene significantly over the years. We had an office lunch there before covid hit our country and atleast 5 out of 6 ppl complained of an upset stomach the next day. I have heard many simillar stories from frnds/family. They used to be very good 8-10 years ago.

I would suggest you order from the better chains like - Mamagoto, YumYumCha, Yauatcha; I have never had any issues when ordering from them.

Big Wong. Consistent as f**k.

Burma Burma has surprisingly excellent quality Chinese stuff too. We tried the Kolkata Chowmein, and hands down it was better than any Asian place. Better than Mamagato etc. Their food quality is top notch.

Downed two bottles of soda and half a limca and still the stuff was troubling me.

All those brands not available in my area. Gonna just stop ordering from outside anyway.

Sad that the crispyness that we get in noodles and rice cannot be recreated at home. Waiting for my new hob with a wok burner. Hopefully it will be possible then.

I love Burma Burma but they don't have too many Chinese options so I did not recommended it. But 100% with you on their food quality and consistency.

Try ordering sauces and noodles from Masterchow if they deliver to your location. I have tried making noodles at home using their products and the results have been good. Obviously not as good as a restaurant but atleast you won't be sitting in the loo the next day for hrs.

Their limited Chinese options are better than major Chinese restaurants.
