Its incredible how these games continue to sell and break records.

Didn't you also buy this game at launch? :P

Funny thing is I'm actually interested in playing this but still haven't bought it. I have a weird love/hate relationship with these games.

The soundtrack in this one is f**king stellar though! I keep listening to it from time to time and it almost made me pull the trigger in the last EGS sale. Maybe I'll finally pick it up in the next one.

I borrowed friend's account to try it, and the moment stamina bar showed up I dropped it. There's no place for stamina bar in a janky-a*s combat really.

I guess the same kind of curiosity/interest leads many to outright buy the game as well, which might be one of the reasons for the game's success.

There's something about these games that's still generating interest. For me personally, it's the virtual tourism aspect that's the main draw. A different and well-realized setting that you can fool around in with each new installment almost always piques my curiosity.

Frankly, sales are not surprising. This was literally one of the very first open world game for the new generation that looked good (Spiderman does not count). It has a play time of almost 100 hours, and promise of future content (which made people feel they were getting their money's worth). Plus, it's Viking theme, and a lot of people were hungry for that. Especially after Marvel and God of War. The trailers of the game also looked really good. It was only after multiple hours that people started getting burned out.

Having played the game, I can say this - the game is good. It is not excellent, exceptional or legendary, just good. And if people ignored the (far too many) collectibles - you could reasonably complete the game without getting burned out. A decent time-pass.

Everything about this and the other recent ac games just makes me feel tired. Do 50 side activities to unlock next story mission.

just feels disingenuous. Any single player game that scales up difficulty with numbers automatically sucks for me.

Basically when you’re level 1 your enemies have 20 health and when you’re level 10 same guy has 200 health that’s it

My favourite AC game out of Origins and Valhalla was Odyssey. It was lot of fun to play and had better quests and characters.

Origins and Valhalla are good games but i can totally understand why people will not like em. Too much sh*t packed into both which are not fun and added to increase length of the game

I’ve seen people say the same thing but games are swapped

Downloaded the new dlc and the game gets stuck at checking for add-ons. Music keeps playing and the loading logo keeps doing its animation. Tried going offline deleting save and syncing cloud save nothing works. Dont want to redownload game again. Any advice?

So I started playing this a few days back and I'm taken aback by how good this game looks! After having seen plenty of videos and screenshots, I was expecting it to look on par with, if not a little better than Odyssey. But man was I wrong. This game is bloody f**king gorgeous!

I didn't know how much I wanted a AAA open-world game with this setting until I started playing this. I'm loving just running around the vast grassy fields and forests. It's incredibly soothing and atmospheric. The sheer foliage density and draw distance are fantastic as well (although I have to say the draw distance in Immortals was more impressive).

And I have no words for how magnificent the soundtrack is. Just....*chef's kiss*

The gameplay is pretty much standard AC with some minor differences. The combat is quite lackluster (especially after having played GoT) but it gets the job done. I haven't done many main quests so far (although I have played for close to 20hrs) but I'm liking the mystery 'side-quests', which have been quite unique and interesting. I realize with how repetitive these games are that it's only a matter of time before burnout sets in, but I feel like I've already gotten my money's worth.

Screenshots don't quite do the game justice, but I'm posting some anyway :P

If it’s coming from you it well does ;) Assume you are playing on PC? Does it look better than RDR2 or GoT on PS5

It doesn't look better than RDR2 vidually or on technical level but its better than GoT on technical level.

Valhalla got lot more going in its open world than GoT. Valhalla world is way more dense and detailed and dynamic than GoT.

I have played all 3 to 100% completion and open world in RDR2 2 is by far best looking, Valhalla comes 2nd in terms of density and details.

GOT is more fun than both and way more colourful with brilliant lighting but open world is not as dense and detailed in my opinion. You can't even swim in GoT lol. Its pretty static but very beautiful open world.

Cant even burn grass and cottages in GoT. Fire doesn't spread real time nothing. Valhalla you burn something it spreads so much,  it burns down everything dynamically lol. In GoT character don't get wet in real time like in Valhalla or RDR2. Lot of such details are missing which i can point out.

The main problem with AC: Valhalla is the grind. After a certain point, you are going to stop looking at graphics completely, and go through the motions as you contemplate your life choices and hope to progress.

Gameplay wise, GoT is so far above Valhalla, that it's ridiculous. GoT actually had a sense of exploration and discovery, which Valhalla does not (Saying this as someone who has completed both). Heck, AC: Valhalla literally has you stacking rocks and fishing (Very mind numbingly boring) for side content. It's one of the reasons why I'm not able to do the Expansion DLC of Valhalla - just starting it bores me. There's also no innovative concepts like the beautiful Winds Path or foxes and birds and other environmental cues etc. Combat is just not fun at all (Unlike GoT where it was the main draw and never got boring even at 50 hours). All England is just one drab environment.

Overall, GoT is far better than AC Valhalla (Despite "Technically" being better graphically as Zodak puts it)

Yeah, Valhalla stacking stones is easily the worst side activity ever lol.

GoT is more fun to play with better gameplay but i like open world of Valhalla. Yes there are dumb side activities but GoT side activities of chasing fox and all gets really boring after you do it more than 10 times and there are 50 or so of fox den stuff.

In side activities GoT isnt great either. Side activities are also bad in GoT.

Gameplay, story and characters shine in GoT.

Valhalla wins in open world and in exploration for me. It has more stuff to do in open world, more variety.

Got side activities are Bomba.

Loved those Haikus and Shrine missions. Those are the only non combat side activities I can think of.

Ubilol can't be compared to GoT tbh. It's just functioning on another level.

When they have you literally piling up rocks, with "Dynamic" rock falling down, so you can never complete it - you know the quality of side content lol. Other "Great" side content includes - throwing a fishing net and hoping you get the exact correct fish (Not just type, but also size - large or small Trout will not do when you need "Medium" Trout), chasing after papers, rhyming contests which have some random answers to succeed etc. It's like Ubi knew exactly how to pad out and p*ss off people for game to last 100+ hours.

GoT side content was heaven compared to this lol.

The comparison might be a little unfair as I'm playing Valhalla maxed out on PC while I played RDR2 on PS4 (played a bit of GoT on PS5 as well but didn't notice any difference apart from the framerate). But yeah, technically Valhalla beats them both just by virtue of it being sharper, crisper and more detailed.

The density and variety of foliage, the draw distance, and the sense of scale are much better too. Seriously, seeing vast fields stretch out before you in Valhalla while the sunlight sweeps across them is a thing of beauty.

RDR2 is still the most realistic looking though and I'm sure it would be the best looking too on PC. Artistically, I wouldn't put one over the other as it would just depend on my mood and right now I'm just loving Valhalla.

One more screenshot :P

Agreed. I'm finding the world to be much more inviting and appealing for exploration than the one in GoT. It is clicking all the right buttons for me right now. I absolutely loved the exploration in RDR2 as well but the slow traversal could sometimes be quite a hindrance.
