so I played the game for an hour or two (until the stage where marianne escapes from that monster), and damn its intriguing.  The visuals are grotesque to say the least, the only reason why I'm finding it difficult to play for longer durations.  The fixed camera angles and the limited gameplay takes some time getting used to, but the whole premise is so different and original, makes me really wanna play until the end.

Graphically the game is alright, I've set everything to the highest settings possible (even RT to ultra), there was some minor stuttering few times while transitioning from gameplay to cutscenes and vice versa, but not too distracting.  So far, didn't encounter a single loading screen, the game has been running literally like an interactive movie.

Finished it! The ending felt like a cop-out but the story was otherwise pretty good. It touched on some dark themes and there were a couple of sections delving into the psyche of some characters that I thought were amazing!

Spoiler

I also thought Thomas was a better character than Marianne and would've actually preferred having someone like him as the protagonist.

The dual screen mechanic though, while unique and interesting, wasn't quite used to its full potential IMO. I was hoping for it to be used in puzzles which were more creative. It also sometimes felt like I wasn't able to fully appreciate the art-direction in the spirit world because of the split-screen.
Still, I liked the game overall. It felt like a nice old-school adventure game with the story, the art direction, and the atmosphere being the standouts.

BTW, the game has a short post-credits scene (tease?).

Have you finished the game? I think i've played around 2 hours, reached the stealth encounter with the invisible monster. How many more stealth sections?

Yeah, finished it. There's only one more stealth section (if you can even call it that because it's very short).

@Assassins Creed, yea I sat around waiting for it to load until I realized I needed to press the button too

The story's great so far but need to see how it plays out. The game could use some serious patching, though. I get some random rainbow colored artifacts on screen sometimes, almost like Christmas lights :D

The hell? :(

They just can't release it OneX and skip base Xbox one and base Xbox one will really struggle running Medium. SX version drops to 900p in dual reality scenes, so imagine how Xbox one will perform lol

I think the patch has made things a bit worse.. I see some late loading ok items in menu and on screen as well..

Dayum! That shows how out of touch I am with anything connected to this game. I heard of it's initial announcement but never looked back on anything related to it's platform release. It just caught my eye recently as the discussions showed up. Seemed to have horror-ish vibes, so thought of giving it a shot. Strangle it had that lock symbol on my console in Game Pass library, so didn't know if it had even released or not.

But the performance part you mentioned makes sense. Didn't look like it would be so graphically intensive. Guess this goes into to the skip bin for now.

Dont skip. Atmosphere is amazing, silent hill -ish. Its not the best looking games out there but runs fine, since its a very slow paced game so 60fps or 30fps doesnt make a difference.
