Starting the Medium today - should I use headphones or home-theater, for maximum impact? Games says use headphones.

use the home theatre if you have a 5.1 surround. Headphones won't give the BASS which literally shakes your windows..

completed the maze level, can't remember the last time I was this uncomfortable playing a game :ack:

Not that bad, you just need to follow the voice. Pretty easy in 5.1 surround. Straight forward.

Started yesterday

With headphones on medium volume ?

Sound design is very good, sound of breathing is a very good touch for immersive-ness. Feels as if she’s beside me

Dual world idea is terrific - a novel experience

Graphics - very good, specifically lighting and materials remind me of the Last of Us Part 2

Perfect, hope all graphics settings are also exactly on medium. Nothing on low or high, only medium. Otherwise the game will crash.

@Shantz
Most other games that support split-screen displays two different instances of the same location. In The Medium, the real and the spirit worlds look completely different and use their own sets of graphical assets, such as models or textures. This is much more demanding in terms of memory, storage, and the rendering cost.
Additionally, such effects as motion blur or ambient occlusion need to be calculated and rendered twice. All in all, the game requires a significant amount of VRAM and fast storage, much faster than what was used in the previous generation of hardware. Although it might look similar in screenshots or trailers, technically speaking the game’s dual reality simply works differently and is much more demanding power-wise than “ordinary” split-screen.

Finished the game. Loved the story, sound and art design. The controls and animations were clunky AF though. Felt like I was playing a really old game. That and the texture pop-ins were the most annoying for me. Immersion killers.

Completed the game finally, totally awesome.  Would easily give it 9/10.  one point deducted for some minor technical issues like stuttering and the wonky camera at times !

btw, as i understood, the game never really says what happens to the real thomas , does it ? Since he was able to call marianne in the beginning the assumption was he is in the real world ?

How scary is the game? As someone who doesn’t really like scary games the two world concept has got me a bit interested.

IMO, its not a scary game, but more like a disturbing game.  The visuals are grotesque and might take a strong stomach to sit through.  Even the theme/underlying plot of the game can make many people uncomfortable !  There were a few jump scares here and there, but I found games like dead space to be more "jump scary" type than this one.

Finished the game - loved it.

Story - very immersive, hooked till the end.

Graphics - superb, especially lighting and materials. Reminds me of the Last of Us Part 2 and Bloodborne. Some levels are just amazing. Very mysterious atmosphere - excellent. But polishing in some places can be increased.

Audio - voice acting - excellent, and breathing sounds - unique

Score - 8.75/10

There will likely be a sequel - looking forward to it!

Finished it, what a gripping and interesting story till the end, Kept me hooked. I was looking for every document, post card for the story. Richard's sub story was so well done, his past, his intentions. Everything came out together so well in the end, The massacre. the monster, henry, bunker.

The game also oozes brilliant atmosphere like the woods & resort. And the sound effects/music when you enter high stakes area or solve puzzles, esp. the bass effect.

Underrated gem 9/10.

Also akira yamaoka's Soundtrack
