I had played a lot of THPS4 on my PSOne. Then, a few of the PS2 games, including Project 8 (I think it was called). Don't think I played any TH game on the PS3. Had got THPS5 on my PS4 and that game is so buggy, it's not even funny. The gameplay is so bad, I couldn't even finish any level apart from the first one.

Basically, the series has been on a decline since the glory days of the early PSOne games. So, I'm glad they went back and remastered the games that put them on the map to begin with. Hope they build on this properly for future games.

Used my epic coupon from the last sale to get a 10$ discount and bought it.

I never actually played the originals. Played the demo of THPS2 but my first proper THPS game was 3. But that didn't stop me from getting hit by a huge wave of nostalgia. Holy crap!

I think it's been 15 years since I last played one of these (THAW being the last) and it really does feel good to be playing it again.

Ohh and the game runs flawlessly at 1080p60 with everything maxed out on a 970. Looks great too!

Wish we could get such a remake for SSX as well :\

How are the controls? Game is more towards arcade or sim? How is the world or just empty areas?

I played a lot of Shaun White. Wondering if this will fill the gap now.

It is very much an arcade game where you try to string together unrealistic tricks and combos. Do not go in expecting a sim.

The controls are very tight and responsive and it gets quite addicting once you get a hang of it.

Each level comes with its own set of 10-12 objectives. These range from getting a certain high score and performing a certain trick/combo to collecting stuff placed in hard-to-reach (and sometimes hard-to-find) areas. Every session you play has a 2min timer in which you try to complete as many of these objectives as possible. An objective once completed is completed forever. So you don't have to worry about completing all of them in one session.

They have added a progression system to it as well, where you level up by completing objectives and challenges and then unlock new apparel, boards etc. for your skater. So far I don't feel like it adds a lot to the game but I don't mind it being there either.

Haven't played Shaun White. So can't say how this compares to it :\
