tlou1 took 8-9 years to sell 20 mil. Tlou2 did half of that in 2 years

More apt comparison would be with what tlou1 did in 2 years especially after the release on PS4 .

10 mil is pretty good no doubt though .

Not sure how to read 10m for LOU2. When you compare it to GOT (8m), it seems like a huge drop off for a sequel whose predecessor sold a lot (18-20m). However when you look at total franchise sales (30m) vs Spider-Man (33m), it doesn’t look so bad considering the latter is marvel and has widespread appeal

god of war sold around 18million till last year.. HZD sold around 20million…

seems about right that TLOU 2 sold 10million..

I don't really get the arguments here. It's as simple as this: This looks like a really well done remake but they shouldn't have charged full price for it.

Also if you don't like it don't buy it . Let others who are genuinely interested buy them n play them.

About Resources being wasted - again these are big studios with different teams . The new standalone multiplayer title has its own separate team and are working on it .

Like the case of Re Remakes - Capcom got it's remakes (especially Re2 and hopefully RE4 ) right and their new entries RE7 / RE8 are amazing too.

Thank you.

Take an upvote both of you.

Maybe they should have remastered lou 2 then ,or maybe its time will come after a few years.

They should’ve included the PS5 version of TLOU2 (with Dualsense support) along with this $70 LOU1 remake.

Pretty sure they’ll make it another $10 upgrade when it’s ready. ??‍♂️

The employees used on this could've joined another company who wanted to make original games. Money being invested by Sony for this could've been spent on something original so your argument of unlimited resources is faulty.

Didn't we discuss this few days ago - Most Companies being averse to taking risks and hence focusing on sequels / remakes in few cases .

So for all these employees to get a job in another company making an original game sounds like a hypothetical scenario which probably wouldn't happen.

Saw this on YouTube . 2/3rd say no to buying it for 70$ . when you read the comments most say they will pick it up on sale . So yeah the interest is definitely there. Although personally i m not interested in this game .

Not the case with a developer like ND. Sequels are welcomed but not remakes.

Their main target is PC .. they first want to take whatever from console users.

Hence the cash grab.. easy money ?

More like safe money rather than easy money . They still have to do a good job with remakes otherwise people won't buy it .. Prince of Persia SOT being a prime example.
