Or, let's take GOW, for example. Imagine a fight between Kratos and Thor, and Thor being a norse-God and everything, can move between realms instantaneously and plans to take Kratos for a ride and pummel him with the Mjölnir every second they are in a new realm. However, that won't be possible now, as again, the devs have to keep the PS4 HDD in mind and it's limitations.

Oh mayn!! Now I wanna see that!!! @SantaMonicaStudios, please listen to this man.

btw, the salve on this thread since morning, just

@Jigsaw: The point is 'why' people are upset about this decision.

A decision like this gets reflected in the creative development of the game.

As it's been discussed already, GG had mentioned that they couldn't give the option for Aloy to ride the Stormbirds in the first game because the map just wouldn't load that fast. Theoretically, if H:FW was a PS5 exclusive, then that feature may have been possible, given the super-fast SSD. But now, since the devs have to factor in the PS4 and it's HDD, that feature of the game might be reserved for Horizon 3.

Obviously these are puny examples that my tiny brain can think of. Of course a dev would be able to think of varied ways the PS5 hardware can be used to it's full potential.

Why do you think R&C: Rift Apart is not on the PS4, then? Isn't Sony abandoning the "110 million community", there? Obviously they are, but because of the nature of the game, they just couldn't release it on the PS4. That's a true next-gen game where we see the SSD in action.

What PS5 owners can expect though, are simple eye-candy stuff. Upgraded resolution, higher-resolution textures, faster load-times, etc.

Read the attached screenshot. PS4 has an installed userbase of 110 million. As I said , it's a business decision anyways

You telling me? I always knew these games will be crossgen and even posted here when xbox announced its crossgen  plan before the fanboys got mad and came after me .
its very simple that if xbox with 50 million lastgen console cant move on then how the f**k can sony do it so easily.

Meh . enjoying the console to its best . Wish i had an xbox too so could have joined the Titanfall 2 lobby . Love that game XD

pick up Dirt 5 on PS5. I thinks its down to 1500 now. With the latest patch enabling cross play between both consoles, you can join in on that keechadfest.

Hermen Hulst said “Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.

That being said, it’s also very important to have showpieces for PS5, hence the development of Returnal and Ratchet that are exclusive to PS5.”

- this means that Horizon 2, next gow, gt7 are NOT “SHOWPIECES” for PS5. Returnal and RnC actually are those showpieces.

they should have made H2 and next gow as the SHOWPIECES for PS5 :chair:

Money talks. Check sales of gow vs ratchet and clank on the PS4 and you'll know why this decision was made.

They would have - if they wanted to sell PS5. Right now, they don't want to sell more PS5s, they actually want to slow it down. They are unable to keep up with demand. Stuff like GoW and Horizon are both console sellers and can sell on their own. Since, they don't want these "Console Sellers", they can release it on everything and get more money that way. In a way, there is a chance that they predicted the shortage of supply.

In other console gens, you might not even have such major IPs releasing in the first year at all. If I remember right, in the PS3 to PS4 transition, stuff like Last of Us released on PS3 first and were remastered for the PS4 later. Meanwhile, the only console exclusives the PS4 had for the first 2 years of launch were Infamous Second Sun, Order 1886 and Killzone Shadowfall if I remember right. None of it was great, a big IP or "Legendary" status. It was only after the release of Bloodborne in 2015 that the floodgates opened for the PS4. Same was the case for the PS3 also, if I remember right. It was only after the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 in 2008 that the flooodgate of PS3 games opened. The fact that people are getting stuff like GoW and Gran Turismo within the first 2 years of PS5 launch itself is a very big deal - even if they are cross-gen. Their budgets are too high for them to not be cross-gen anyway, what with needing to hire professional actors and all that.
