And I don't think their internal QC team is there to check performance, it's whether the game runs or not. Performance related checks are up to the developers. Sure I'll give them credit for pulling it after public outcry, but that was a bad example since it was driven by public not by them internally. And it wasn't just performance but lots of fatal crashes. Edited July 1, 2021 by dylanjosh

Also, has the biggest market share in console gaming. This matters a lot when it comes to up front "advertisement" fees. Eshop is filled with bottom barrel 99 cent or 1 USD games (discount of 99% !) and since they sell volumes, they almost always hit front page charts. But Nintendo does promote quality Indies much better than Sony.

It's so large, even sony themselves have dumped the we believe in generations quote. @dylanjosh I misread those pie charts. People don't play indies much on ps due to the cost alone? Ps- my original post was about why $25k may be charged. Edited July 1, 2021 by radicaldude

Don't know what happened to it. I know that officially they have "nothing planned" but still wish they made a portable console, these Monster Hunter, Persona type games are very well suited for portable gaming imo In any case like all big wig companies of past like IBM they will probably end up as a Game Publisher/"Services" company only in 5-10 years time like SEGA is now. Not that I mind, best studios in gaming are under Sony/PS, ND, SSM, Insomniac, SP and a few more. KnackChap
Imo Sony & ninty have realised that they don't have the resources to make & support software for both handheld & home Console together. The only way I see sony making a handheld is if they miraculously manage to run every ps5 & previous gen games on it natively which can not happen. Expect a streaming only device from both (sony & ms) in the future.

However they would have to make it powerful enough to atleast give a PS4 esque experience on the handheld. Maybe dlss will help.

Expect a streaming only device from both (sony & ms) in the future. Also, people hardly play story intensive games on the go. Switch is popular because it has complimentary games as well like Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Donkey Kong etc. One can easily pick these games up at any point and be good to go, doesn't matter even if you are half asleep. No need to think about the story or the controls. Sony needs to invest in such games first before thinking about going portable. Right now they are concentrated on AAA single players. MS seems a bit better placed in this space because of the games like Ori and Minecraft. A forza horizon spin off can work great and also if they can bring partnerships like Cuphead.
